Thanksgiving Week Family Events

Stopping by to share family friendly fun events beginning Saturday, November 23, 2019.  The Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta Square Community always have an event, or two, or three and some times more going on.  Happy Thanksgiving!

SAT NOV 23 – ACWORTH TURKEY CHASE The 5K Fun Run will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the 2K walk at 9:15 a.m. on Main Street in Downtown Acworth. There will be a “Little Pilgrim” Trot for children up to age 5 beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street. The City of Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department presents this annual Thanksgiving tradition to benefit the Tackle Hunger Program! For the past ten years, Turkey Chase runners have helped stock local food pantries during the holiday season! Be sure to save the date for this special event.  Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. All participants must bring a non-perishable food item on the day of the race to receive a race number and t-shirt. ALLATOONA HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND TO PLAY AT BATTERY TREE LIGHTING

Join them Saturday, November 23 at the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage for the third annual Tree Lighting. Starting at 4pm guests can enjoy musical performances from the Allatoona High School Jazz Band, followed by the barber shop group, The Big Chicken Chorus, and lastly get in to the holiday spirit with the talented ladies of Octave! Guests are invited to snap a photo on Santa’s reindeer-drawn sleigh from 6:00 – 8:00pm. The Tree Lighting will take place at 7:00pm. HOLIDAY MARKETS OPEN

NOW TIL -DEC 7 KENNESAW HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP Pottery both functional and whimsical, produced by students and instructors from Kennesaw Parks & Recreation’s pottery program, will be on display and available for purchase at the City of Kennesaw’s Historic Train Depot in November. The Holiday Gift Shop will operate 10am to 5pm Friday-Sunday the weekends of, November 15-17, November 22-23, November 29 – December 1, and December 6-8. NOW TIL – DEC 14 HOLIDAY MARKET AT ART STATION The Art Station at Big Shanty Park will host their annual Holiday Market November 19 through December 14 (Monday-Thursday: 10am-7pm, Friday: 10am-5pm, and Saturday 10am-2pm). The Holiday Market offers unique, handcrafter items from over forty local artists.   Guests can shop local for a wide variety of items, including jewelry, ornaments, jams, pottery, and so much more. Join us for Shop Small Saturday (November 30th 10am-2pm) to avoid those department store crowds and still find the perfect gifts for your loved ones.

TUES NOV 26 MOON MEDITATION 7:00 pm Oak Sanctuary invites the public to attend their Moon Meditation. Meditation is a wonderful way to relax and handle stress. SAT NOV 30 ACWORTH SMALL BUSINESS OPEN HOUSE Get in the holiday spirit and support local businesses by experiencing all the Christmas cheer Acworth has to offer. Main Street will celebrate Small Business Saturday on November 30 with a Merchants Open House.  Shop local and sample delicious treats in our downtown stores.

SUN DEC 1 WORLD CLASS CONCERT AT ACWORTH UMC. 7:00.  Acworth Cultural Arts is pleased to present a “World Class” concert to be presented by The Georgia Festival Chorus. This free concert will be presented in the sanctuary of Acworth United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 1st, at 7:00pm. The 100 voice chorus, under the direction of David Scott, will perform Sacred Classics, such as the “Hallelujah Chorus”, Holiday Favorites, such as “I Saw Three Ships”, and an original composition, “I Am”, by Acworth’s own “Composer-in-Residence”, Mr. Chris Owenby.
