Our community events have not slowed down as we glide into the holiday season. So many family friendly events to enjoy.
MON NOV 29 – THURS DEC. 16 Letters to Santa Parents and caregivers can save the postage and bring their children’s letters to Santa to the Acworth Community Center beginning November 29! The Acworth Parks, Recreation, and Community Resource Department Team has the honor of hosting one of Santa’s very own mailboxes at their facility. The City delivers these letters to jolly old Saint Nick personally! Children will then receive a handwritten letter back from Santa! Although Santa’s eyes twinkle, he will not admit he needs reading glasses. Parents, please provide some notation to children with creative handwriting. This free program will be available to the public through December 16.
WED DEC 1- WED JAN 5 COBB EMC drive through LIGHT DISPLAY Cobb EMC is getting in the holiday spirit with a drive-through light display at their own Solar Flower Garden from 6-10 p.m. nightly from Dec. 1-Jan 5. DEC 1-31 THE CHRISTMAS HOUSE in Calumet West Subdivison. With over 50,000 lights the spectacular Calumet West Christmas House will be lit
from 5:30-10:00 pm every night during December. The house and lawn are completely covered with lights, ornaments, and some of your favorite Christmas Characters. It also features West Cobb’s Tallest Christmas Tree, the Traditional Gingerbread House, and the Biggest Chicken west of The Big Chicken! And this year a new feature with a real sand beach, water scene and a new 13 foot working light house. Each year the Calumet West Subdivision features the Christmas House as a way to raise money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Visitors can drop a donation in the collection box in front of the house, or choose the online option at www.choa.org/cwlights. Visitors are encouraged to make the suggested donation of $10 per car, but of course any amount is much appreciated. 100% of your donation goes to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
WED DEC 1 ACWORTH’S MENORAH LIGHTING. The City of Acworth invites everyone to join us for our 10th Annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, December 1, the fourth night of Chanukah, at 6:00 p.m. at Logan Farm Park, 4405 Cherokee Street, Acworth 30101. Rabbi Zalman Charytan from the Chabad Jewish Center will officiate the lighting with Mayor Tommy Allegood.

THURS DEC 2 KENNESAW’S MENORAH LIGHTING The City of Kennesaw, in partnership with Chabad of Kennesaw, will host the Menorah Lighting in Depot Park, located at 2828 Cherokee Street, on Thursday, December 2, at 5:30 PM. This will be the fifth night of Hanukkah. The eight-day Jewish holiday commemorates the Jewish Maccabees’ military victory over Syrian-Greek oppression more than 2,000 years ago. During Hanukkah, Jews across the world celebrate the miracle of light that burnt for eight days out of a single-days-worth of oil found in the Temple. One Hanukkah candle is lit the first night and an additional candle is lit each successive night. The holiday is a celebration of religious freedom and hope.
THURS DEC 2 Christmas Tree Lighting & Santa on the Square The City of Marietta’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting returns!! Let’s kick off this holiday season with Santa’s arrival to the square on Thursday, December 2. The fun begins at 4PM with performances by local school and church choirs, then Santa makes his Grand Entrance to help the Mayor and the City of Marietta light the tree! Santa arrives at 6:00 and the Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin.
Santa Letter Writing Stations – 4PM-6PM
Meet some of Santa’s elves and watch as your letter gets put straight in to the hands of the Big Man himself! Letter writing stations will be up throughout the park for individuals who want to send their wishes to Santa. Stations will close and letters will be delivered when Santa arrives at the Square (6PM)
Festival of Trees
Beginning December 2, 2021 in Glover ParkCome see the amazing trees decorated by local schools and organizations to celebrate the Holiday Season! Stroll through the magical forest of trees and be inspired by the creativity of our very own Marietta City School students. These beautiful themed trees will come to life for the arrival of Santa on the Square.Prizes will be awarded in four categories. Visit our Winter Wonderland with friends and family and enjoy what will certainly be one of the most photographed spots of the holiday season!
FRI DEC 3 ACWORTH SANTA The City of Acworth, along with their partner NorthStar Church is excited to host this year’s Santa’s Arrival! Santa arrives in Historic Downtown Acworth on Center Street on Friday, December 3, 2021. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. There will be a host of live performances and activities until 8:30 p.m. to help Santa kickoff the holiday season. Rumor has it that Santa will arrive down the chimney at Acworth City Hall. There will not be a photographer onsite, so please plan on bringing your camera to capture the special moment. SAT DEC 4 HOG BREAKFAST WITH SANTA – Join Santa and Helping one Guy on Saturday, December 4 from 7:30 – 10:00 am at the Cowan Historic Mill, 4271 Southside Drive, Acworth. Come enjoy a delicious breakfast, courtesy of Chick-Fil-A and a chat with Santa. It is free to our community. Donations will be appreciated as this is our Christmas fundraiser for The Horizon League for Special Needs Children & Young Adults Acworth Parks and Recreation Dept. Pictures with Santa will be taken and sent to you by email on Monday. Children must be accompanied by parents.
SAT DEC 4 KENNESAW SANTA BREAKFAST BREAKFAST Kennesaw-Acworth-Optimists is hosting an “all-you-care-to-eat” pancake breakfast with Santa at the Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive, on Saturday, December 4. Attendees are encouraged to bring a camera. Two seating options are available: 8 to 9:15 a.m.; and 10 to 11:15 a.m. The “all you care to eat” breakfast comes complete with pancakes, sausage juice, coffee and table to table visits with the jolly old Elf himself. Tickets are only $6 per person and may be purchased online at kennesawparksandrec.com or at the door based on availability.
SAT DEC 4 KENNESAW HOLIDAY MARKET Kennesaw Holiday Market. The market will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Merchandise should be handmade/crafted, locally produced and suitable for holiday gifts. No commercially produced items or direct sales items will be accepted. Examples of item categories include original artwork, crocheted/knitted goods, candles, glassware/ceramics, jewelry, woodcrafts, bath goods, food items (with appropriate cottage licensing) and children’s gifts. Booths will be set up in the parking lot of the depot.
SAT DEC 4 A DAY WITH SANTA & PARADE Santa’s arrival begins at 2:00 p.m. with a Main Street parade featuring marching bands, decorated floats, vintage cars and colorfully costumed characters. The celebration will continue from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Main Street with a holiday host of activities including FREE snow tubing, inflatables and amusements, kid’s crafts, visits with Santa, stage entertainment, a screening of the holiday favorite Elf and a holiday market full of gift ideas and unique merchandise. SAT DEC 4 KENNESAW CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING Join Mayor Easterling and other city officials at Depot Park in downtown Kennesaw on Saturday, December 4 at 6:00 pm, for the time-honored tradition of counting down to illuminate the official Christmas tree. The program begins at 6 pm and will include festive choral music and sing-along, light refreshments, and plenty of holiday cheer.
SAT DEC 4 Menorah Lighting on Marietta Square 6:30 pm. Congregation NerTamid of Marietta will host a Menorah Lighting on the Glover Park Stage. North Cobb High School is beginning to plan for their 18th annual Shop with a Warrior (SWAW). The Bright Side is happy to share the following information The event is Saturday, December 11th and they are looking for donations of snacks for 105 little shoppers, new warm blankets for 105 little shoppers, wrapping supplies such as tape, bows, and gift bags (no wrapping paper needed) and water for all our participants (roughly 550 people). Alternatively we would gladly accept cash donations to be used to purchase the snacks, blankets, wrapping supplies, and water. North Cobb will feature the sponsors for the month of December on their marquee out front. All we’ll need from them is the artwork. SAT DEC 11 MARIETTA POPS. This year’s concert is held in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Marietta. The sanctuary seats eight hundred, allowing listeners to spread out as they feel necessary. There are two concerts on that date to choose from, one at 5:00 and the other one at 7:30. The concerts last a little over an hour and include an intermission. Along with singalongs of popular holiday songs and carols, there are traditional holiday pieces including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells Forever, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting), I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, and many more including a surprise bonus piece.
