APR AND MAY SMITH GILBERT GARDENS ART BLOOMS – Connecting art and nature in a unique way – through ART BLOOMS. The staff planted 10,000 daffodil bulbs showcasing some of the sculptures in the permanent collection. In May, we’ll open a temporary outdoor exhibit featuring sculptures created by students in the Master Craftsman Program at KSU. The two month event will include a series of weekend artists’ demonstrations and workshops, along with self-guided tours. Art Blooms is included in regular Garden admission. Weekly Timed Tickets for Art Blooms will be available March 28th. SAT AND SUN APRIL 17 -18 SUPERIOR PLUMBING KENNESAW/BIG SHANTY FESTIVAL downtown Kennesaw. The Superior Plumbing Kennesaw/Big Shanty Festival features over 200 Arts & Crafts booths, 25 food booths, one entertainment stage, as well as live acoustic music in the new Food Court throughout the weekend. Something for the entire family! FREE SHUTTLES to and from the downtown area. WED APR 21 REAL EXTATE EXPO hosted by the Cobb Association of Realtons at the Governors Gun Club in Kennesaw. This event will be open to the public and is free to attend. The event will have exhibitors from the Real Estate industry. There will be giveaways, prizes, cash bar and a free 3 hour CE course offered to Realtors from 10 am- 1 pm. The expo will be 11 am- 3 pm. WED APRIL 21 BIRD AND BUTTERFLY HOUSE WORKSHOP This event will be held at Swift Cantrell Park on Wednesday April 21, 2021 from 6:00 til 7:30 pm. Tickets are at secure.rec1.com/GA/kennesaw-ga/catalog. Participants will have the option to choose a bird or butterfly house that will make a wonderful addition to any garden. The class will be led by Kennesaw Parks & Rec Director Steve Roberts and Assistant Director Bill McNair. This event is suitable for all ages. All materials will be supplied, and no artistic experience or talent is necessary.

FRI APR 23 GALAXY OF STARS Tommy Nobis Center, a Marietta-based nonprofit that helps individuals with disabilities enter or return to employment, will hold its 23rd annual Galaxy of Stars event online on Friday, April 23, 2021, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funds raised through this event directly support programs and services for youth and adults with disabilities. Community members can participate by donating to the event directly online or via mail, during the virtual event, or through the online silent auction that will run from April 21st until April 26th. SAT APR 24 KENNESAW Cemetery Clean-Up Day – The City of Kennesaw Cemetery Preservation Commission will be hosting Cemetery Clean-Up Day at the Kennesaw City Cemetery on April 24, 2021 from 10AM to 2PM. Cleaning supplies are provided, but we ask participants to bring their own gloves. To clean the stones, we use a product that is environmentally safe and recommended by the Veterans Administration. SAT APR 24 COMPLIMENTARY MOVIE – Local military and veteran families, please join the Think Melissa Team as we celebrate Military Children at our Annual Free Movie Event on Saturday morning, 04/24. TUES APR 27 SUMMER CAMP EXPO 5:30-7:30 at the Community Center. Summer Camp Expo is an open-house style free event for the community to learn about the summer camps available through Kennesaw Parks & Rec. The camp instructors will be on site so attendees can meet them and learn more about the different camps available to the community such as, sports, art, and science camps, as well as the All-Star Camp. This will be held outside in front of the Center.

SAT MAY 1 KENNESAW BOOK SWAP 8-11:00 am. Hosted by Kennesaw Parks & Rec at the Community Center, This year, the Book Swap will take place outside in the front parking lot to allow for proper social distancing and masks will be highly encouraged. Area residents are able to drop off gently used books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, etc. in exchange for tickets. Each item dropped off is worth one ticket. At the Swap, only attendees who dropped off items will be able to redeem their tickets for items brought in by others. There will be no exchange of money at the Book Swap so you must have tickets to “purchase” items.

Friday night will feature an outdoor concert from the Georgia Players Guild featuring music from Three Dog Night and Hall and Oates. Friday night will also include the infamous Lord of the Wings contest! Purchase tasting tickets and be the judge for best wings and get a taste of what different vendors have to offer. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and festivities will last until 10:00 p.m. Saturday boasts some of the best BBQ around! Teams from all over the Southeast will compete in professional and amateur divisions to see who will take home the title. ONGOING EVENTS
NOW TIL OCTOBER FIRST FRIDAY CONCERTS The Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority and the Kennesaw Downtown Merchants Association are excited to announce the inaugural First Friday Concert Series in Historic Downtown Kennesaw. The Series, which runs from now through October, will hold the next concert on Friday May 7. From 6:00 to 9:00 PM, the community is invited to stroll through the Historic Downtown area and enjoy an evening of shopping, dining and live music. The concert will take place at the Pedestrian Underpass off Main Street. Tables are available for reservation for $50. Tables will seat six individuals.

FRI ACWORTH FARMERS MARKET IS OPEN Shop for local at the Acworth Farmers Market every Friday morning from April 9-October 29 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The market takes place at Logan Farm Park (4405 Cherokee Street).
