MAY – ART BLOOMS ART BLOOMS at SMITH GILBERT GARDENS, KENNESAW. During the monthof May, Smith-Gilbert Gardens invites the community to experience selected pieces from the permanent sculpture collection as they’ve never been seen before, surrounded by over 22,000 daffodil blooms planted in unique patterns! Art Blooms is a two-month exhibit that includes a series of weekend artists’ demonstrations and workshops. On Saturdays, Art Ambassadors will be on-site to share behind-the-scenes stories of the artists and sculptures. Beginning May 7, experience Designed by Nature, a sculpture exhibit by new and emerging artists including a collaborative piece by LaBelle Elementary third grade students and artist, Allen Peterson.

THUR MAY 5 – CITY OF ACWORTH NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER – The Acworth National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 5, 10 – 11 a.m. in front of Acworth City Hall. Mayor Allegood will be praying, as will leaders from across our community’s government, schools, churches and businesses. Hymns and worship will be led by students and local churches, as well. This community-wide event is being organized this year by North Cobb Christian School.

FRI & SAT – MAY 6 & 7 – Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival – The North Cobb Rotary Club, City of Acworth, and the Georgia Barbecue Association partner each year to bring you the Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival presented by Superior Plumbing. This event will be held at Logan Farm Park on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All proceeds from this event are distributed amongst several local charities, so everyone come out and help make a difference in your community! This two-day event features a Friday night concert under the stars and a BBQ competition on Saturday! Teams from all over the Southeast compete in professional and amateur divisions to see who will take home the title. For a small fee, you can taste your way through some of the best BBQ in the Southeast! Parking will not be available at the park so please park downtown. SAT MAY 7 KENNESAW CEMETERY DECORATION DAY 10-2 Join Kennesaw’s Cemetery Preservation Commission as we celebrate Decoration Day on Saturday, May 7 from 10am to 2pm at the Kennesaw City Cemetery in Downtown Kennesaw. The time will be dedicated to beautifying Kennesaw’s historic City Cemetery. Cleaning supplies will be provided, courtesy of the City of Kennesaw. There will be free lunch and music. All are welcome to come and participate!

TUES MAY 10 KENNESAW BUSINESS ASSOCIATION May Luncheon 11:30-1:00 will be held at the Kennesaw Rec Center on Watts Drive, Kennesaw. Catered by Adrianes Delectables. MAY 13-22 FOREVER PLAID AT THE STAND Forever Plaid is a deliciously fun musical chock-full of classic barbershop harmonies and pop hits of the 1950s. In this crowd-pleasing favorite, the four young men of “Forever Plaid” will make you laugh and steal your hearts as they send up a lovable throwback to great nostalgic hits with music like “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “16 Tons,” and “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.” Tickets available online at or call the box office at 770-293-0080.

FRI MAY 13 THE ART OF THE COCKTAIL Marietta Cobb Museum of Art will be hosting the “art of cocktail” event on Friday May 13, 2022, from 6:00–8:30pm. This special event will feature Hickory Hills Art Auction benefiting Hickory Hills Elementary: An auction of original works of art by professional artists and the children of HH. Auction closes at 7:30PM! Admission $10 – Members get in free. Hors d’oeuvres provided by Carriage House Catering and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are sold at the door.

SAT MAY 14 ACWORTH CULTURAL ARTS GARDEN TOUR. 10:00 am -3:00 pm. Come with us and take a tour of four magical Acworth Gardens.  Complimentary Parking in the First Baptist Church lot on MAIN ST. SAT MAY 14 KENNESAW’S OUTDOOR MOVIE  The City of Kennesaw’s free Outdoor Movie Series will kick-off on Saturday, May 14, at Swift-Cantrell Park with a showing of Walt Disney Pictures’ Encanto (PG) projected onto a giant inflatable screen after sun down. Swift-Cantrell Park is located at 3140 Old 41 Highway. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, etc. for their own comfort. No high backed chairs, umbrellas, tents, pop-up canopies, etc. that could block the view of the movie for others. Food vendors are available beginning at 6 p.m.

WED MAY 18 Change the Way You Age EXPO 2022 is coming Wednesday, May 18 from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. More than 70 vendors will have products for sale, provide information, raffle prizes, giveaways, and give you the opportunity to try assistive technology! Northside Hospital will provide screenings on Blood Pressure, Skin Cancer, Sleep Quality, Stroke Prevention, and more. SAT MAY 21 Acworth Dragon Boat Festival The Acworth Dragon Boat Festival will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Dallas Landing Park supporting Loving Arms Cancer Outreach! Imagine colorful 40 foot long boats with the head and tail of a dragon on each end, filled with 20 paddlers, a drummer, and steers person competing in a high energy race on the water. This athletic and cultural phenomenon originated over 2,000 years ago in Ancient China, and is presently the fastest growing sport in the world. SAT MAY 21 – MON MAY 30 THE SHRINE CIRCUS OPENS The largest Shrine Circus and Fair in North America is back for its 80th year, packed with more excitement than ever! The Yaarab Shrine has proudly partnered with Royal Hanneford Circus to provide circus goers with some of the best entertainment under the Big Top. The Circus starts Saturday, May 21, through Monday (Memorial Day), May 30, 2022, but wait – don’t miss the “SNEAK-A-PEEK-RIDE-A-THON” on Friday, May 20, $10.00 unlimited rides (5:00 pm till close – Only Carnival and food – no circus performance).

SAT MAY 28 ACWORTH MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY. A ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on a Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in Cauble Park at Patriots Point. Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation.

MON MAY 30 KENNESAW’S SPLASH PAD OPENS Kennesaw Parks & Rec is so excited for the Splash Pad to start its season! Memorial Day (May 30) is opening day! To make it even better, it will be free admission all day! Splash Pad hours are from 10 AM to 7 PM. See you there! The Splash Pad season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Splash Pad is open daily, except for Thursdays as it is closed for scheduled maintenance. Admission is $2 per person. Children ages 2 and under are free.

SAT JUNE 11 ACWORTH’S DADDY DAUGHTER DATE NIGHT-The City of Acworth will host a Daddy Daughter Date Night at Tanyard Creek Overlook on Saturday, June 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This special event is the perfect night out for girls up to 14 years of age and their dad or adult male chaperone. Attendees will create precious memories as we enjoy an elegant dinner and some evening entertainment. The cost is $40 per couple for City of Acworth residents and $50 for non-residents. SAT JUNE 18 KENNESAW’S JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION The Kennesaw Police Department and its Citizen’s Advisory Board is pleased to announce that Juneteenth 2022 will be celebrated again in the City of Kennesaw on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Swift-Cantrell Park.  The entire Kennesaw community is invited to join in family-friendly activities with food trucks, community vendors, bouncy houses, police and fire truck displays, entertainment and more from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The event is free to the public. Food truck vendors will be there selling food and drink.

SAT JUNE 18 ACWORTH’S JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION – A Juneteenth Celebration will take place at Logan Farm Park on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The event opens at 5:00 p.m. with live music taking place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This concert is a celebration in observance of June 19, 1865, when the last African American slaves held in Confederate states were finally freed by the Union army. The City of Acworth will hold a free concert from the Total Package Band. The City of Acworth invites the whole community to bring blankets and folding chairs and join this celebration of freedom and respect for all cultures.


MON NOW – AUG 1. KENNESAW FARMER’S MARKET each Monday afternoon from 3:30 pm til 7:30 pm and will be located in the Big Shanty Drive parking lot at Depot Park, downtown Kennesaw. The Market will feature farmers and makers. On a typical Market day in summer, over 20 vendors will be set up offering their best vegetables, fruits, baked goods, and specialty items. THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH ACWORTH’S Senior Luncheon Join us every third Wednesday of the month for lunch and bingo at the City of Acworth’s Senior Luncheon This program is FREE to all seniors but you must RSVP to attend. KENNESAW’S FIRST FRIDAY CONCERTS The Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority and the Kennesaw Downtown Merchants Association are excited to announce the second annual First Friday Concert Series in Downtown Kennesaw.
The Series will run from now through October, with no concert during the month of July. From 7:00 to 9:30 p.m., the community is invited to stroll through the Historic Downtown area, and enjoy an evening of shopping, dining and live music. The concert will take place at the Pedestrian Underpass/Tunnel Plaza off Main Street. Attendance is free or if you wish, Tables are available for reservation for $55. FRI GLOVER PARK CONCERT SERIES As in previous years, these free concerts will take place monthly in Glover Park in the Marietta Square. All concerts begin at 8:00 on the last Friday of each month, April – September The concert lineup: April 29, The Geek Squad, Pop/R&B; May 27, BJ Wilbanks , That 70s Show; June 24, Catalinas, Beach; July 29, Chuck Martin, Country; August 26,Brotherhood, Doobies Tribute ; September 30, Still Swinging Big Band. Attendees can bring a picnic or dine in one of the many fine restaurants located on the square. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up in the park. Tables and chairs are permitted in the street after 6:00 p.m. No personal tables, plastic ground covering, ropes, tape, stakes, etc. used to section off areas are permitted inside the park as they will be removed.

SAT The Marietta Square Artisan Market is an open-air showcase of locally-created fine art and premium hand-crafted goods. It is held every Saturday from 9 am until 2 pm from March to December. Year round on Saturdays from 9am-12pm.  Takes up residence on 41 MILL STREET between Powder Springs and the Square..  Market customers have a variety of produce to choose from including heirloom tomatoes, fruits and vegetables that are rarely, available from the grocery store.
