The winners of the competition are The Children’s Theater (Audrey Milam, Emma King, Erin Reynolds, Alexandra Fincher). Their drawing: “When I Grow Up – I am going to Lasso Cancer Once and for All!” is pictured ad left.
Thirteen school groups turned out to participate in the KMHS Art Club 1st Annual Sidewalk Chalk Competition Thursday, May 2nd in the front of the school. We saw artwork from The Drama Club, KMHS Cheerleaders, The Mane Link, the Basketball team, The Chorus, Science and Math and several others. Funds were raised to benefit Blue Skies Ministries, a non-profit, local organization that takes families of children with pediatric cancer to a weeklong retreat to the beach.
It was an enthusiastic and fun crowd.. It is times like this that makes me wish I had been a teacher – or was still in high school.
Mayor Mark Mathews, Councilmen Tim Killingsworth, Jeff Duckett, and Bruce Jenkins were on hand to judge. Loads of great ideas based on the theme “When I Grow Up”. The students raised over $1000 for Blue Skies Ministries. Below are more pictures from this event.
