FRI-SUN Oct. 13-15. FALL BOOK SALE It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for! The Fall Book Sale opens its doors 9 a.m. Friday at Cobb Civic Center and runs through the weekend, You may find treasures among the books, DVDs, books on CD and audiocassettes. And look for hidden gems like comics or vinyl records! Prices range from 10 cents to $4. Hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, then 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday. Acceptable forms of payment are debit, credit, cash, and checks. On Friday until 1 p.m. electronic devices are not permitted. The event will only sell up to two boxes of items at a time on Friday until 1 p.m. Plan to pay and take items to your vehicle before returning to shop some more. Cobb Civic Center is at 548 South Marietta Pkwy SE, Marietta. Parking is free.All profits from this book sale go directly to buying more items for Cobb County Public Library’s 15 branches and bookmobile. SAT OCT 14 Allatoona High School Marching Band Competition – The Allatoona High School Band will be hosting its annual Marching Band Competition “The Conquest” on Saturday, October 14th at 4pm. Thirteen High Schools from the area are scheduled to perform as well as a special exhibition performance by The UTC MOCS! Don’t miss this opportunity to see the outstanding talent and dedication of our local high school musicians! Tickets are $15 and will be available for purchase at the gate. SAT OCT 14 ACWORTH BOOK & STORYTELLING FESTIVAL This annual event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Rosenwald School in Doyal Hill Park, 4410 Cherokee St., Acworth. Sponsored by Acworth Cultural Arts, this forum of local authors and storytellers is free to the public. This year’s theme is “Words and Stories of Many Voices”, highlighting cultural and creative diversity. History, mystery, fact and fiction will all be represented. Attendees will hear presentations by published authors, and performances by members of the Southern Order of Storytellers and students from KSU’s Storytelling Troupe.
