Planning is in high gear for this year’s Chalktoberfest on October 13th and 14th.  The Marietta Cobb Museum of Art has contracted nearly 100 professional chalk artists from five countries and across the USA to chalk the streets of the Marietta Square. This free festival also features local artisans, an antique car show, and live music all weekend.

We have expanded the annual Craft Beer & Wine Festival held on Saturday October 13th.  This year’s addition of wine to the selection has sparked great interest! Tickets are discounted to $40 if purchased online before the event. A new group ticket rate of $350 for 10 tickets will be available. Tickets can be purchased online from Big Tickets:

This year we are also selling tickets for the BIG GREEN EGG drawing.  Tickets are $10 each with a cap of 500 tickets sold. The odds of winning are pretty good and if you don’t win your contribution may still be tax deductible. Tickets can be purchased online at www.eventeny.com/events/chalktoberfest-63/?ticket, or during the festival at the Big Green Egg and Springer Mountain Farms tents.

The new, mobile-friendly version of Chalktoberfest.com went live on September 19th.  All the artists, musical acts, vendors, sponsors, beer and wine lists, competition rules, and other festival information will be just a click away. We’ll be updating information right up until the start of the festival.

On Sunday October 14th, there is Community Chalk Competition on East Park Square for those who would like to try their chalk skills. There are divisions for adults, teens, and youth (ages 6+), plus a separate category for school teams.  Chalking starts at 11:00am and prizes will be awarded at 3:45pm. Please see Chalktoberfest.com for complete details.

October 14th also features the Creative Kids Activity Zone. From 11:00am-5:00pm kids of all ages can enjoy face painting, crafts, and making slime. Proceeds benefit MCMA’s art education programs.

We are also seeking volunteers to help with this award-winning festival.  It takes hundreds of hands to make this festival a fun reality.  We need people to help with set up, take down, face painting, kid’s crafts, and much more.  Please contact Jennifer Fox at jfoxmcma@bellsouth.net if you would like to volunteer.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be another wonderful weekend.  We would be delighted to have you join us!
