Black History Bowl Championship  · February 11, 2023

Congratulations to the eight Black History Bowl teams that will participate in the Championship Series, Saturday February 11 at Ben Robertson Community Center.  Opening ceremonies begin at 9:00 am, with Final Four anticipated to begin about 4:00 pm.  Open to the public.

The Black History Bowl is a fun, competitive and educational event for middle school aged teens.   This is the 5th year that our area has held this event. This year we had a record number:  thirty-two teams to compete in the early round qualifier on January 21st. The Championship Series is being held on February 11th at the Ben Robertson Community Center in Kennesaw, GA.   Teams from various schools, youth organizations, and churches will compete by answering a variety of black history-related questions in science, the arts, education, sports, entertainment, civil rights, politics and more in a fast-paced game show style format.   The Bowl seeks to raise and deepen the awareness, while honoring the vital role played by African Americans in the rich history of our country.

Teams completing in Championship Round:
Awtrey Middle School, JJ Daniels Middle School, Lost Mountain Middle School – Team #1, Lost Mountain Middle School – Team #2, Whitfield Academy, Mount Paran, Paulding Virtual Academy and Garrett Middle School.

Opening Ceremonies at 9am  will be hosted by Laurie Wilson/WSB-TV.  Pool play starts at 10am. Final Four will begin at approximately 4:00 pm.  The public is invited to cheer these students on.
