FRIDAYS: ACWORTH FARMER’S MARKET – Every Friday morning starting April 8 and ending October 28. The market is located in Historic Downtown Acworth in the Acworth First Baptist Church Parking Lot on the north end of Main Street. Market customers will have a wide variety of garden ripe Georgia grown vegetables, eggs, cheese, bedding plants, fresh baked bread, pies, cakes, honey and jams to choose from each week. This year’s market will be bigger and better than previous years and shoppers won’t believe the selection of home grown goodies! The market is located in Historic Downtown Acworth in the Acworth First Baptist Church Parking Lot on the north end of Main Street.
FRI APR 29 MARIETTA/COBB MUSEUM OF ART: MARTINIS AND MUSIC -5:30-8:30. Celebrate the Catch The Wave exhibit of the Coca-Cola Company and Mason Fine Arts Exhibit – contemporary history through the eyes of Coca-Cola and enjoy the sounds of Douglas Cameron playing hits of the Big Band Era and swing. FRI APR 29 GLOVER PARK CONCERT SERIES 8:00 pm. This season’s series kicks off with Still Swinging, Big Band music. The event is free, however tables are available to rent. Table reservations are taken on a first come basis (and will sell out quickly) on the first working day of each month beginning at 8:00 a.m. www.mariettaga.gov/concerts. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up in the park. Personal tables and plastic ground coverings are not permitted in the park, however they may be set up on the street after 5:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner or dine in one of the many fine restaurants located on the square.
SAT APR 30 – NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Marietta Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Marietta Police Department at 240 Lemon St Marietta, Ga 30060. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. This is also being hosted by the Kennesaw Police Department and Acworth Police Department at their respective stations.
SAT APR 30 – AGING BY DESIGN SUMMIT AND EXPO – 9am-2pm at Roswell Street Baptist Church. Featuring keynote speakers, Coach Vince and Barbara Dooley. Free health screening from 10am-2pm. Early registration at any Cobb County Senior Center is $5 until Friday April 22nd. After deadline is $10 per person.
SAT APR 30 Georgia Symphony Orchestra 8:00 pm. The final concert of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra’s 65th Anniversary Season will be a presentation of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Guest conductor Duilio Dobrin is the third and final candidate in the organization’s search for its new music director. The concert will be held at The Marietta Performing Arts Center located at 1171Whitlock Avenue, adjacent to Marietta High School in Marietta. Tickets are $20-$30. SAT APR 30 – CLASSIC CAR CRUISE NIGHT – The city of Acworth will host a Classic Car Cruise from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Acworth. The Lake City Cruisers partner with the city and the downtown Acworth merchants to hold these Classic Car Cruises. The event is free to the public. A $2 entry fee is requested for all vehicles in the cruise. All proceeds go to the Horizon Field, an all-inclusive special needs sports facility in Acworth. SAT APR 30 – COMPLIMENTARY MOVIE FOR MILITARY FAMILIES – The Think Melissa Team is honored to help celebrate our current and past military families with a COMPLIMENTARY movie event, in honor of April being the Month of the Military Child. All military (active, veterans, National Guard and Reserves) families are welcome to attend. We are working with the Georgia National Guard Family Program and Silverton Mortgage, to host this event. MON MAY 2 – FARMER’S MARKET AND DINNER AT THE DEPOT – Back in Kennesaw for the season! Depot Park in downtown Kennesaw. Farmers market: 3:30-7:30pm, Food trucks: 5:30-8:30pm. Enjoy live music each week and other entertainment and surprises throughout the season. A good variety of rotating savory and dessert trucks.
