TECHNOLOGY IS REALLY MAGIC
by Carol Thompson,Bright Side editor

I had the opportunity to finish my education in electrical engineering technology, just when our digital age, as we know it was being born. I thought then that the whole concept was magic and to this day, even more so. We are physically separated from our families, friends, co-workers, church community, sports teams and much more, but through the magic of technology we can communicate via Facetime, Facebook Live, Twitter, Facebook, Zoom and more.
Doctors and nurses are able to telemedicine, businesses are able to conduct meetings, teachers are hosting virtual classes, families are touching base. While life is not ongoing as we know it – it is still going on.
Taking advantage of this technology, we can visit a local attraction everyday. Have you visited the Georgia Aquarium, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Ferndale Museum, The Panda Cam at the Atlanta Zoo
While the Georgia Aquarium is closed to the public, their live webcams will entertain and delight the whole family. Visit: https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/webcam.
Museum At Home. Fernbank Museum of Natural History may be closed, but that won’t stop our mission to ignite a passion for science, nature and human culture through exploration and discovery. Check out the several videos online at https://www.fernbankmuseum.org/museumathome.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden Life Blooms On. When you can’t go to the Garden, the Garden comes to you. Stay tuned to the Garden’s Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/atlantabotanicalgarden) , Instagram (atlbotanical) and Twitter (@AtlantaBG) to flower your feed with spring color.
And don’t forget the Panda Cam at the Atlanta Zoo. https://zooatlanta.org/ panda-cam/.
Many other attractions have video cams and interactive programs in the Atlanta area. Start searching. Feel free to share with us at brightnews@aol.com.

COBB’S VIRTUAL BAND

Amid the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing, we are seeing more and more people coming together to create a sense of community and connection throughout Atlanta.
And Cobb County did just that. The School District took on the huge undertaking of creating the first ever “Cobb County Virtual Band.” It was quite an impressive and uplifting performance to say the least.
The virtual ensemble showcased over 500 talented musicians from all 17 high schools in the community. Atlanta Composer Tyler Grant allowed the kids to perform his wonderful work for concert band, “Shimmering Joy”.See it on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MocrV03sl8I,
