You could hear the roaring of the wheels before you hit the door. Clickety clack, Clickety clack. The familiar sound reached my ears as I went around the corner into the Education Center. There I encountered several trains racing around their tracks on model layouts. Even Thomas The Train was spotted touring through a Christmas Village. And what fun for the youngsters as these railroad enthusiasts had provided places for them to be junior engineers and man the trains.
The Railroad Rendezvous at the Southern museum had something for everyone. Trains and models of all sizes, vendors of trains. Outside live Railroad music performed by The Mars Hill Porch Pickers and Historic Echoes. CSX brought along a locomotive for the visitors to tour. And to top it off – hotdogs and hamburgers cooked by the Kennesaw-Acworth Lyons.
