Meet Mike Ragland – Acworth Bookstore on November 18

Come meet Mike Ragland, retired police officer, turned author, columnist and historian on Saturday November 18. Born and raised in the cotton mill village of Lindale, GA , Mike Ragland is a much beloved speaker, author, historian and columnist in Northwest Georgia. A retired Major from the Rome City Police Department, Mike’s unique perspective and down home southern humor  is irresistible and his talent for story telling is unparalleled.

Come meet him in person at the Acworth Bookstore on November 18 from 1-5 pm. Mike will be signing his novels: “Bertha” and “A Time to Gather Stones”, along with his newly released book “Living with Lucy”

“Bertha” is based on a true story of murder and intrigue in the Post WWII South. Bertha was an actual person convicted and years later exonerated for the murder of several members of her family by arsenic poisoning. This bizarre tale which, took place in Centre, Alabama and Rome, Georgia spanned several decades.

In the summer of 2015, Mike added his newest novel, A Time To Gather Stones, is about Jack Barker-an emotional derelict-accepts a challenge from forces beyond. Propelled through time, he arrives in the Southern Highlands in 1715. He discovers the highest forms of evil are trying to destroy his mission. With nothing but his own skills, can Jack survive the forces of darkness, the entanglements with three women, and still complete his mission? Move with Jack through a raw, rugged, yet beautiful landscape that will become our country. Experience the vibrant culture of the Native American inhabitants.

Just out is Mike’s latest creation Living with Lucy. The sassy talking chocolate dachshund as she experiences the first year in the life of an ordinary puppy…

A much loved speaker and writer in Northwest Georgia, Mike is devoted to writing full time since his retirement from the Police Department in April, 2007. He and his wife currently live in Cave Spring, Ga where he is working on his second historical novel, “If Thine Eye Be Evil”, and a collection of his stories and articles, “I’ve Still Got Cotton in my Blood”.
