The public, city and county schools and organizations are invited to register by Sept. 25 to show your group, business or school’s creativity and personality by making a scarecrow as part of the eighth annual Scarecrows on the Square contest.
Registrations forms are available online at www.mariettaga.gov. Type the word scarecrow in the search box at the top of the page. Entries are judged on originality, construction and presentation. Creators are urged to use a theme and name that showcases your business, your school, your group’s personality of celebrates Marietta’s history with a historic figure. Public entries have a $25 entry fee and scarecrows need to be set up by Oct 1. Judging is October 11.
School scarecrows have no entry fees and should be set up by Sept 27 in time for Marietta Reads kickoff on September 28. Judging is October 11. Winners of both contests will be announced and prizes awarded at Halloween Happenings costume contest on the Square, Oct. 20 at 1:45 pm.
