dk Gallery’s August portraiture show titled About Face explores the change in direction or attitude of traditional portraiture throughout history to the fresh, contemporary styles of today. All are invited to attend this highly anticipated show on Friday, August 7 at dk Gallery from 5-9pm, located at 25 West Park Square in downtown Marietta. Featuring dk Gallery artists Terrence Gasca, Shellie Lewis-Dambax, Alberto Mier, Catie Radney and David Wendel this show is sure to please.
There is always something new to see at dk Gallery. Each first Friday of the month kicks off Art Walk and a new themed Opening Night on the Historic Marietta Square. Art Walk is a free self-guided walking tour of the Marietta Square’s galleries, museums, cultural venues, restaurants and businesses. The Hot Spot for Cool Art
Marietta Square Art Walk brings cool art to summertime fun. Art galleries, museums, boutiques and restaurants host local artists and musicians from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7 during this free, self-guided tour. Visitors can stroll the brick sidewalks of the Marietta Square while enjoying the intown culture and small town charm this Southern city center is known for.
“Fire” will be the Art Walk Mystery Theme at Red Door Art Gallery & Studio. Kathy Grace of Marietta will give a live demonstration at 2 Rules Fine Art of the hand building techniques she employs in her creative pottery. Portrait art will grace the walls of dk Gallery for their show titled “About Face.”
The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is open and free to the public the night of Art Walk, and will feature Metro Montage XV, their annual juried show, plus an exhibition of pieces from MCMA’s permanent collection.
Cold drinks and great food will also be available at this summer art oasis. Pick up your dinner to-go from award-winning restaurant The Marietta Local, from their special Art Walk “Walk-Around” menu, and enjoy drinks at Art Walk’s Beer Garden, in Atherton Square, located behind Cool Beans Coffee. The Beer Garden will host live music by Jennings Music, Marietta Social Club and the Emerson Drummers.
