PIONEER DAYS – STARTS THURSDAY

BY DALLAS GODFREY

Pioneer Days are just around the corner. The dates this year are Thursday – Monday, September 3-6.  Four days of arts & crafts, Peachtree Rides & Games for all ages, and fun Carnival food.Pioneer Days is held at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville, located on Douthit Ferry Rd.
Allatoona Charities was organized in 1982, to help the needy in our community. It was in Acworth for 30 years and we outgrew our location. This is our 39th Annual Pioneer Days Craft Festival. Pioneer Days moved to Sam Smith Park in Cartersville in 2010. The venue is great for Pioneer Days, we have plenty of room. We are being told by participants that this has become an annual tradition for their family. We have Peachtree rides with us and they will have about 30 rides, games and carnival food. We also have crafts and all types of food -something for everyone. Admission for adults: $5.00. Children under 10 at no charge.  Our Carnival will sell Unlimited Arm Bands $25.00 per band.   For more information visit https://www.pioneerdaysga.com.

ABOUT ALLATOONA CHARITIES

Our organization loves giving back to the community. Everyone that works our event, does not receive any wages. It is all volunteer, which gives us more profit to go back into the surrounding community  Pioneer Days has raised enough money for us to give five $1000.00 scholarships to Cartersville High School. We support the Battered Women and Children Shelter in Cartersville and a Children’s home in Emerson Ga. We have been able to donate money to other charitable groups to help them support their charities.
It is very rewarding to give back to the community, that I grew up in. We were around in the 80’s when there were no other groups helping the way we do.

While we were all disappointed to have cancelled in 2020, we are anxiously anticipating bringing the show back for all to once again enjoy in 2021! Featuring more than 175 fine art booths, this outdoor event also delights the entire family with children’s activities, live music and great food from local restaurants. Admission is free.

This year, the festival will feature more than 175 artists with offerings in watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, pottery, woodworking, glass, photography, textiles and jewelry in fine metals and precious stones. At the Artist Market, visitors can purchase art and learn about it in person with the artists. All items are hand crafted by the artist and categorized as a “fine art”.  No manufactured, imported items or raw materials will be allowed.   Artists may only show and sell work from the category in which they have been accepted.  This year’s artists come from Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia.
