Kennesaw’s Mayor and Council Acting to Fill Vacancy

american-flag-2a.jpg (JPEG Image, 640 × 480 pixels)Due to the recent death of Council Member Bill Thrash, the Mayor and City Council will take action to fill the vacancy, in accordance with the Kennesaw Charter – Article II, Section 2.08.

The Mayor and Council would like to provide an opportunity for anyone who wants to be considered to make their interest known and that they are qualified to serve by submitting their name, along with a sworn affidavit stating that the qualifications are met. The affidavit can be found on the city website at or by visiting the City Clerk’s office at City Hall.

To be eligible, a person must be at least 21 years of age, meet the requirements of a qualified voter as described by state law, and be a bona fide resident of the city of Kennesaw for one (1) year prior to election day, subject to all applicable state and federal laws. No person convicted of a felony is qualified to hold the office unless the person has received a full pardon and has all rights of citizenship restored.

Any interested person must file their information with the City Clerk’s office no later than 5 pm on Friday June 7, 2013.
