Members of the Kennesaw Mountain Varsity Softball Team, along with their coaches, Lisa Chapman and Coach Eric Blair, participated in a L.E.A.D. sponsored day on Friday, November 15, at Turner Stadium. The L.E.A.D. (Launch-Expose-Advise-Direct) Organization, founded by former Cubs outfielder C.J. Stewart, uses baseball to promote academic and civic excellence among inner-city youth. Approximately 150 children from Atlanta got to spend the day at Turner Stadium and enjoy various athletic clinic stations run by sports celebrities, Kennesaw Mountain Mustang players, LEAD Ambassadors and college baseball players.
Several of the Kennesaw Mountain players helped to conduct a celebrity softball clinic. Many other volunteers also came out to support the event and make sure the children had an incredible day. The children arrived on school buses and were divided into teams. The teams performed sports activities all morning, followed by a catered lunch from Chick-fil-A. At the end of the day, everyone enjoyed a rousing celebrity softball game.
