Marietta Square Art Walk salutes the weekend of Independence Day with America’s music. Art galleries, museums, boutiques and restaurants host jazz musicians and local artists from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3. Visitors enjoy the in-town culture and small town charm this Southern city center is known for, while strolling the brick sidewalks of Marietta Square.
Starting Friday evening, Marietta Square comes alive with activity for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. While Church Street closes to traffic to set up Saturday’s arts and crafts festival, photographers aim their lenses at a unique alley photo shoot off of Church Street, adjacent to Lenny’s Hair Salon.
On West Park Square, dk Gallery presents ‘Farm to Table,’ a landscape and still life show. On South Park Square, Red Door Art Gallery & Studio will have their mid-year studio clearance sale, and Marietta Square Artist’s Attic will provide entertainment with their regular jazz ensemble.

At the heart of Art Walk are the visual artists selling their artwork on the sidewalks of Marietta Square. From April through June, these artists competed for two sought-after awards, ‘Best of Show’ and ‘People’s Choice.’ Awards resume in August and culminate in the Encore Show in November, where ‘Best of Show’ winners from each month will be given the opportunity to display their art at one of four local gallery sponsors: dk Gallery, Marietta Square Artist’s Attic, 2 Rules Fine Art and Red Door Art Gallery & Studio.
Proceeds from the Art Walk’s Beer Garden support cash prizes for ‘Best of Show’ winners. Although the Beer Garden won’t be set up for ‘Jazz in July,’ it returns in August with musical entertainment by Jennings Music, Marietta Social Club and the Emerson Drummers.Free parking will be plentiful in the parking deck on Cherokee Street, across from the Earl Smith Strand Theatre, as well as the other two parking decks located off of Waddell Street and Lawrence Street.
