WOW!! – Life is returning to Acworth, Kennesaw and Marietta. Sharing the creative ideas and contests on the part of all of our Cities Parks and Recreation staffs. So many things to do, both in person and virtually — safety features for the whole family. AND don’t miss the awesome Halloween decorations and scarecrows on Square in Marietta, along Main Street in Kennesaw, and the Scarecrow Parade on Main St in Acworth, plus pumpkins lining the fence at Logan Farm Park (Parkside of Acworth).
SAT OCT 17 – KENNESAW’S FALLOWEEN CELEBRATION 4-9 Swift Cantrell Park. Admission is free. Activities include Miss Gail’s Music Dance Party for toddlers, a witch hunt scavenger hunt, costume contests, a trick or treat trail where attendees will receive candy, crafts and more and a showing of Walt Disney Pictures’ Halloweentown! NOW-OCT 19. SOUTHERN MUSEUM scavenger hunt The Great Locomotive Railroad Roam, a scavenger hunt that focuses on local history, runs from Oct. 9 to Oct. 19. Proceeds benefit the Kennesaw Museum Foundation The Roam is $25 per team to enter. After registering, participants will receIve a list of clues and specific instructions.Teams then must submit their entries to the Roam’s Facebook page by 4 p.m. on Oct. 19. NOW-OCT 22 Kennesaw’s Virtual Dog Costume Contest. Don’t forget to snap a pic of your pup in their Halloween costume! Our Virtual Dog Costume Contest is the time to show off your dog getting into the Halloween spirit! Email a picture to kennesawparksandrecdept@kennesaw-ga.gov with your dog’s name, breed and costume and owner information (name and phone number). We have prizes for our winners! Email your photo by October 22, and voting will be October 23 through 30. We will announce the winners on October 31. We are excited to see all of the cute pups!
NOW- OCT 25 KIDS AND PET COSTUME CONTEST, PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST City of Marietta Parks and Recreation is hosting a virtual kids and pet costume contest, plus a pumpkin carving contest. Photos can be submitted online until October 25, 2020.
KIDS & PET COSTUME CONTEST: Get in the fall spirit with your child or pet by participating in this online costume contest! Use your own materials and creativity to design a unique, original, homemade masterpiece. Once your masterpiece is complete, take a picture of your child or pet in the costume and submit it online, beginning October 5th – 25th. (Kids contest is open for children ages 14 and under.) Entries will be judged and TOP 5 placed on the Marietta Parks and Recreation Facebook page for community voting October 26th – 29th. Winners will be announced on Friday, October 30th and prizes will be mailed.
PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST: Show off your carving skills in this Pumpkin Carving Contest! Once your magnificent showpiece is complete, take a picture of it and submit it online, beginning October 5th – 25th. Entries will be judged and TOP 5 placed on the Marietta Parks and Recreation Facebook page for community voting October 26th-29th. NOW – OCT 29 ACWORTH VIRTUAL HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST Throughout October all boys and ghouls are invited to visit the Acworth Community Center in their Halloween costume to receive a free bag of goodies. Don’t forget to ask about our virtual costume contest! Winners will be chosen via online voting on our Facebook page. The top three entries will receive a special prize! Enter by October 29.
NOW- OCT 30. Logan Farm Pumpkin Patch & Scavenger Hunt Over fifty artists, families, and organizations participated in our first-ever Logan Farm Pumpkin Patch Art Contest! These fall-themed works of art are now on display at Logan Farm Park. As you explore the park to see all the decorated wooden pumpkins, kids can participate in a scavenger hunt to win a bag of goodies. Scavenger hunt cards are available for pick up at the Acworth Community Center or can be downloaded here. Return your completed scavenger hunt card to the Acworth Community Center to win a bag for treats!
NOW – Nov 1. North Cobb Regional Library BOOOOK Walk Through the magic of QR code technology, read a spooktacular book with Ms. Kate and Ms. Neely from North Cobb Regional Library as you walk along the trails of Logan Farm Park. All you need to participate is a mobile device. Two trails with two stories are available for you and your family to explore! For the little kids, walk the Ghosts in the House! by Kazuno Kohara. Beware of the Frog by William Bee is on the longer big kids trail. Find the trail location by scanning the QR codes on the BOOOOK Walk signs at Logan Farm Park.
SAT OCT 31 COBB COUNTY’S FALL FESTIVAL 4-8 PM – Cobb PARKS, iHeartMedia Atlanta and Safe Kids Cobb County present the 21st Annual Fall Festival of Fun – “Drive thru style”! This event will take place on Saturday, October 31st from 4pm to 8pm at Al Bishop Softball Complex located at 1082 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta, GA 30008.
Wear your costumes and bring your goody bags for a fun drive-thru event. Participants are asked to stay in their car as they enjoy the fun characters (princesses, dinosaurs, Bob the Builder, and more!) located throughout the park. Don’t forget to stop at each station to collect goodies from the “Candy Fairy”
