CITY OF KENNESAW – OPENINGS, CLOSING, POSTPONED

The following is information from the City of Kennesaw regarding postponed events, cancellations, what’s open and more as of May 11.POSTPONED
44th Annual Big Shanty Festival

In compliance with Governor Brian Kemp’s Executive Order 04.30.20.01, the Kennesaw Business Association, in partnership with the City of Kennesaw, have decided to postpone the 44th Annual Superior Plumbing Kennesaw/Big Shanty Festival to November 7 & 8. The Kennesaw/Big Shanty Festival was originally scheduled for April 18 & 19, and previously re-scheduled for May 30 & 31.

On Thursday, April 30, 2020, Governor Brian Kemp extended the Public Health State of Emergency through June 12, 2020, extending the ban on large gatherings.

Rescheduling the festival for the fall will allow the City and the KBA to ensure the best festival possible for the community. We look forward to being able to continue the annual Big Shanty tradition.

CITY OF KENNESAW RECREATIONAL FACILITIES OPENED

• Swift-Cantrell Park is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• All Neighborhood Parks is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Walking/Running Trails will open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

THE FOLLOWING RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ARE CLOSED

All vertical play equipment (playgrounds), workout equipment, skatepark, dog park and facilities will remain closed. As the Governor has extended the Public Health State of Emergency until May 13, 2020 (04.08.20.02), the City of Kennesaw continues to explore all options to fully reopen parks and trails in a safe and healthy way, and in accordance with recommendations provided by the Georgia Department of Public Health and all guidelines issued by the Center for Disease Control.

YARD DEBRIS COLLECTION SERVICES RESUMED

Republic Services has announced that they will resume yard debris collection, beginning Monday, April 27.
The City will also resume the bulk recovery beginning Monday. Bulk can be scheduled by calling Public Works at (770)-421-8582.

 

 

CITY FACILITIES CLOSED OR CANCELLED

All City facilities including the Ben Robertson Community Center, City Hall, Public Works, Smith-Gilbert Gardens and the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History will remain closed to in-person, public access until further notice.
All public events, classes and programs remain canceled until further notice. At this time, other closures include: City of Kennesaw Municipal Court

CITY ESSENTIAL SERVICES UNINTERRUPTED.

The essential service functions, including Public Safety, Public Works and Code Compliance will not be interrupted. The City’s mainline number, 770-424-8274, will be answered and calls will be routed as necessary.
The City of Kennesaw encourages the use of the Online Payment Portal at this time for paying citations, sanitation, property tax and business taxes/license.

Building & Construction – 770-429-4554. 
City Clerk – 770-424-8274. 
Finance – 770-424-8274 (the $3 fee for over the phone payments will be waived during this time)
