For the last 40 years, the Kennesaw-Acworth Optimist Club has been helping the youth of Northwest Cobb living up to and exceeding their motto, ‘Friend of Youth’. On March 7th, under the leadership of Terri Harris, Bonnie Bliss, Kathy Skelton and Helen Haugen, the club again hosted its annual ‘Casino Night’ at Pinetree Country Club. Mardi Gras was the theme. It is successful events such as this that allow the club to fund scholarships and provide special services through ‘Secret Santa’. It is the smiles on the faces of the children that we help that provide the ultimate reward to the club and its members.
This year’s event raised thousands of dollars as a result of the hard work and dedication of these four club members. Community support is also a vital part of any event such as this. We are so grateful to the support of our neighbors in Cobb County that helped make this event so successful.
