SAT JUNE 28 BLOOD DRIVE – EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT -For his Eagle Project, Carson Pope is organizing a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross on June 28th at Atco Baptist Church, 20 Parmenter Street, Cartersville, Ga 30120. In addition to that, he is also asking for canned food donations to support the food pantry at New Life Community Church in Acworth, Georgia. Carson chose this project because in March of 2024, his mother was diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma, a blood cancer. She has had to have several blood and platelet transfusions that wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for blood donors. Please sign up to donate and help him spread the word. TUES JULY 1 Smith-Gilbert Gardens reopens, including Butterfly House. The City of Kennesaw is excited to announce that Smith-Gilbert Gardens will officially reopen to the public on Monday, July 1 at 12 PM. After months of anticipation, visitors will once again be able to stroll the peaceful garden paths, take in the vibrant summer blooms, and reconnect with the natural beauty that makes this beloved destination so special.
In the weeks leading up to the reopening, be sure to follow along as we share behind-the-scenes updates, sneak peeks, and helpful tips to make the most of your visit. From colorful garden highlights to fun facts about the collection, there’s a lot to look forward to as we prepare to open the gates once again. Butterfly House opens on July 1 til August 30,
THURS JULY 3 Salute to America on July 3 The City of Kennesaw will host its annual Independence Day celebration of freedom, music and fireworks on Thursday, July 3, from 6 to 10 p.m. in Downtown Kennesaw. Admission is free. Salute to America will feature live music, food vendors and family-friendly activities. The evening will conclude with a fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m., visible along Main Street. THUS JULY 3 SOUTHERN SPIRITS AT SOUTHERN MUSEUM The Kennesaw Museum Foundation and the Southern Museum will host Southern Spirits on Thursday, July 3, from 7 to 10 p.m., coinciding with the City of Kennesaw’s Salute to America celebration. The 21-and-over event will take place both indoors and outdoors at the Southern Museum, offering guests access to museum exhibits, live music by the Mars Hill Porch Pickers and a front-row seat to Kennesaw’s fireworks display. Admission includes three adult beverages (beer or wine), food and lawn seating for the fireworks. Chairs are provided, though attendees may bring their own chairs or blankets. Tickets are $30 for museum members and $40 for non-members, available at the museum ticket counter or at www.kennesawmuseumfoundation.org. Limited tickets will be sold at the door.

Fri July 4, CITY OF MARIETTA FOURTH OF JULY Grab your American flag, put on your red, white and blue, and celebrate America’s independence July 4, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with an Independence Day parade and celebration on the Square presented by Superior Plumbing, free live concerts, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and the City of Marietta fireworks finale. Throughout the day, more than 80,000 people are expected to celebrate on the Square with great food, fun activities, the best arts and crafts around and free entertainment. FRI JULY 4TH CITY OF ACWORTH – LET FREEDOM RING. Let freedom ring! The City of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association are proud to present one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in Metro Atlanta. SAT JULY 12 KENNESAW’S BACK 2 SCHOOL JAM – The City of Kennesaw’s Parks & Recreation Department will host its annual Back 2 School Jam on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kennesaw Recreation Center. This free event offers kids school supplies and book bags on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendors will be on-site providing giveaways and sharing information about community resources and services for families and children. In the weeks leading up to the event, donation bins will be available in the lobbies of both the Kennesaw Recreation Center for new and unused school supplies, including black book bags, black ink pens, No. 2 pencils, glue sticks, pencil sharpeners, rulers, scissors, paper packs, spiral and composition notebooks, binders, crayons, folders, erasers, and pencil pouches or boxes. SAT JULY 26 SOUTHERN MUSEUM’S RAILROAD RENDEVOUS The popular Railroad Rendezvous event returns to the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History on Saturday, July 26. The day-long celebration of railroads and transportation features blacksmithing demonstrations, ham radio and telegraph displays, and an interactive model train exhibit. A special children’s area will highlight historic railroad jobs, including an interactive typewriter display. Guests can also take part in the “Board the General Experience,” stepping aboard the historic General locomotive from the Civil War’s Great Locomotive Chase of 1862. This tour costs $5 per person; children 2 and under are free. Proceeds support the Kennesaw Museum Foundation. MON KENNESAW FARMER’S MARKET OPENS Monday, May 5, at the city-owned parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Moon Station Road. The market will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Monday through August 25, with the exception of May 27 (Memorial Day) when the market will be closed.Shoppers can look forward to a variety of fresh produce, local vegetables, fruits, baked goods and specialty items provided by area farmers and makers. This event offers a unique opportunity to support local vendors while enjoying a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.In case of inclement weather, the market will proceed rain or shine unless safety concerns require cancellation.
