The Marietta Square’s First Friday Art Walk is Friday, March 4th from 5pm – 9pm. Art Walk brings artists, businesses and community together, creating a unique and vibrant cultural event. Art Walk was created by the local merchants of Marietta Square; without them this event would not thrive! Each month more than thirty merchants host artists outside their storefronts around Marietta Square and the surrounding blocks. Begin your Art Walk at one of these participating venues. Stop in, say “hello!” and experience the “In-Town Culture, Small-Town Charm” of Marietta Square.

Red Door Art Gallery & Studio
Begins New Community Art Piece for Charity and Reveals First Clue to 2016’s Mystery Theme
The Marietta Square’s First Friday Art Walk is Friday, March 4th from 5pm – 9pm. Red Door Art Gallery & Studio will begin another community art project for charity AND reveal the first clue/show to their 2016’s Mystery Theme!
The community art project they initiated last season is back! Each First Friday Art Walk March-October, the public is invited to contribute to the creation of a piece of art. During the November art walk, they will auction it off with this year’s proceeds to benefit Hickory Hills Elementary, a local art magnet school. “To have the opportunity to engage the public with art is an honor. We get to see a broad spectrum of personalities unite on one canvas. The end result is unpredictable and completely unique.”, says Jenny King, artist and owner of Red Door Art Gallery & Studio.
Red Door artists also engage the public with their Mystery Theme series. Each year, is a new theme. Each month, they reveal a clue which doubles as the show title. The house artists Jenny King, Mary Jane Huegel, Palma Rhodes, Donna Shiver, Corey Singletary, Ana Drury and Kirk Stansbury interpret the theme in their own style to create a body of fresh original art.
Patrons are encouraged to submit their guess of the Common Thread/ “Mystery Theme”. The first one to guess correctly, wins a $50 Gallery Cash Card.
Red Door, a favorite among locals, is a personable little gallery and artist studio nestled above The Australian Bakery. Its red door shares an awning with the bakery and leads to a welcoming space that overlooks Glover Park. The artwork is a blend of diverse personalities expressed in a variety of media, sizes, price points and styles. They are open daily 12 – 2pm, special events and by appointment.
