Lots going on in Acworth for everyone to enjoy – starting with this Saturday with Live at Logan Farm Park. Don’t forget Memorial Day ceremony on Saturday May 29.

Live at Logan Farm Park

The Weekend Getaway Band will perform live music at Logan Farm Park (4405 Cherokee Street) on May 22. This outdoor music event is free and open to the public. Live at Logan Farm Park is the annual Acworth Arts Alliance and the Acworth Art House fundraiser. Proceeds from this event fund scholarships for High School Students furthering their education in visual arts, as well as the Acworth Arts Alliance providing art activities to the kids who attend camps offered at the Acworth Community Center. Music begins at 6:45 p.m. and concessions will be available for purchase 1885 Grill.

The Weekend Getaway Band

Fun, fun, fun!  Good times and great music is what The Weekend Getaway Band is all about.  This musical dynamo continues to thrill crowds and fill dance venues with their tasty combination of Soul, Funk, Jazz and “rhythm and groove”.  Comprised of “A players” with pedigrees including a Grammy Award, WGB is a musical powerhouse.  Fans everywhere love their music and warm and soulful sound. (I see some familiar faces).

Join Acworth’s Book Stroll

Take your little birdies on a literary adventure and explore a new way to read together! Wander as you read your way through The Nest That Wren Built by Randi Sonenshine in Downtown Acworth through May 31. The story begins at the Acworth Depot and continues throughout Acworth’s Historic Downtown. Participating businesses will have pages posted in their front windows for you to read while you explore. Read in the park with Randi Sonenshine on May 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Frana Brown Park!

Meet local author and educator Randi Sonenshine as she reads her children’s book The Nest That Wren Built in historic Frana Brown Park. Fun fact! Each page of this book has a hidden ant in the artwork. Be sure to look closely around the park for hidden ants to take home. Don’t worry! These ants won’t ruin your picnic. Present your ant to win a prize! After the reading, Ms. Sonenshine will be available to sign books and answer questions.

WED MAY 26 ACWORTH’S SPRING TOWN HALL 6:30. Join us online or in-person. Mayor Allegood will be presenting the Spring Town Hall on Wednesday, May 26th at 6:30pm at the Acworth Community Center. SAT MAY 29 ACWORTH’S MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY 10:00 AM. Will be held at the Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. For more information on the event contact Jeff Chase at jchase@acworth.org or call 770-917-1234.

SAT MAY 29 SPRING CLASSIC CAR CRUISE 4-9 PM on Main Street in downtown Acworth. The event is free to the public. A $2 entry fee is requested for all vehicles in the cruise. All proceeds go to the Horizon Field, an all-inclusive special needs sports facility in Acworth.

Acworth’s Memorial Day Ceremony

The ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in our armed forces that have been purchased since the previous Veterans Day will be presented at the event.
