Malachi Singleton pulled some W A R R I O R S football players together along with a couple of cheerleaders last week and went to show some Valentine L O V E to our local assisted living community, Dogwood Forest. Sometimes it’s the small gestures that keep hope alive in the hearts of others. Joining Malachi were Joshua Joseph, Deon Tyler, and Robert Grigsby. These young men are all sophomores at North Cobb High School and are outstanding football players Can hardly wait to watch them play next fall. Thank you for your kindness.

Due to construction of our new parking lot, the Smith-Gilbert Gardens will be closed for visitation Monday, February 15 through Saturday, February 27. Special Olympics Georgia – Polar Plunge.
Special Olympics Georgia is proud to present the 12th Annual Polar Plunge which will be held on Saturday, February 20th at Lake Acworth in Acworth, Georgia, and the plunging will occur between 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The Polar Plunge is one of Special Olympics Georgia “coolest” and largest fundraising events through the efforts of the Law Enforcement Torch Run Program (LETR). All proceeds raised go to help provide 26,620 Special Olympics Georgia athletes free year-round sports training. For more information and to register, visit polarplungega.org. Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) to host wildlife baby shower on February 20
Wildlife Baby Shower: Saturday, February 20, 2021, 10AM–2PM
Donations made to the Wildlife Department at CNC will be matched by Northside Hospital up to $5,000.
In preparation for spring and the wildlife baby season, CNC is hosting a Wildlife Baby Shower, February 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from CNC’s wildlife technicians what to do should you find baby birds or other baby animals. This is a great chance to talk with CNC’s wildlife team, learn more about their work to preserve Georgia’s native animals, and discover ways you can help all year long. The day includes opportunities to see native Georgia raptors up close and personal. And, a baby shower would not be complete without fun, educational games for the entire family. In addition, sign up for one of four, unique wildlife walks at 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, and 2PM through our campus with our “Women of Wildlife” (see below) team members. These ladies have the inside scoop on all of our rehabilitated wildlife. Learn the important role each animal plays within Georgia’s ecosystem.
CNC takes in nearly 40 young birds of prey (raptors) and reptiles each spring for rehab, with hundreds of calls a month from people who have found animals and are looking for advice. The majority of young raptor patients come in due to nest loss, such as from storms or trees being cut down, and from good Samaritans who might not know when an animal is actually in need of help. Native reptiles in Georgia, such as turtles, are independent from birth and do not need a parent around.
