Bethel A.M.E CELEBRATES 160 YEARS

Bethel A.M.E. was built by the hands of 200 freed slaves living in Acworth after the Civil War.  The emancipated slaves immediately became a vital part of the Acworth community, and took on a monumental task using their artistry and skill to build a church.
As Bethel prepares for its 160th birthday, the Acworth community is working together to promote and preserve this historic structure.
Come see this gem for yourself the weekend of November 10-12, 2023.  On Friday, November 10 at 11:30 the Acworth Historic Preservation commission will hold a ceremony designating Bethel as a local historic landmark  with a plaque dedication at the church. On Saturday, November 11 Bethel will be on the Acworth Charm tour of homes and will be open from 12:00-5:00.  For tickets go to AcworthCharm.com.  On Sunday, November 12, Bethel A.M.E. will celebrate 160 years.
