Zach Seabaugh is on The Voice

Zach Seabaugh, The Voice - Season 9“Are you Superman? You look like Superman and that’s not a 16-year-old’s voice. That’s Superman’s voice,” stated Adam Levine, one of the judges on NBC’s “The Voice” said to Zach Seabaugh at the end of his Blind Audition song on “The Voice” that aired September 22.

As a friend of the Seabaugh family, I have had the opportunity to stand on the sidelines and watch Zach Seabaugh grow and mature into an accomplished singer.  He started playing the guitar as a little kid and was introduced to Johnny Cash by his granddaddy.  He was five years old when a neighbor, Cheryl Berry, gave him a guitar at a garage sale.  The guitar was larger than he was. His dad would call and say “Come on, Zach is singing at our local coffee shop tonight” – he was about eight at the time. He has always been in our church choir at Marietta First United Methodist Church. The first time I saw Zach perform (outside of church) was at Hayes Elementary School in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – he was Charlie Buckett and in the fifth grade.

By ninth grade he was performing on stage at the Strand Theater in every musical Earl Reese put on – At Kennesaw Mountain High School, he was one of the lead singers in several of Coy Dunn’s productions.  It was exciting to sit in the audience and watch these productions.  In March of this year, Zach Seabaugh won the state champion in Boys Solo and was part of the state champion quartet also including Jesse Connor, Dylan Kalafut, and Adam Stegall as Kennesaw Mountain High School’s Literary Team won the State 6A Competition. Choosing performing over football, last Spring Zach hung up his football gear and jumped into dance lessons at Bravo Dance Centre to round out his performing abilities.

The experience of performing in front of live audiences gave Zach the confidence and stage presence he evidenced in his Blind Audition on “The Voice”, September 22. Three chairs turned and Zach, being a country singer at heart, picked Team Blake.  His next appearance on the Voice will be sometime during the Battle Rounds which start the week of October 12.  You will have to watch every episode since no one knows when he will appear.
