Trains Trains Trains Returns January 30th and 31st!

DSC_09171The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History will host the sixth annual highly popular Trains, Trains, Trains event on Sat, Jan. 30 AND Sun, Jan. 31. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Along with more activities for families and an expanded General Emporium, the Museum will host new and expanded model train layouts for all ages to enjoy.

Athens Bend Track will set up the events first ever N-Scale layout in the Cobb Energy Gallery, filling the 3500 square foot space. Two more N-scale layouts will be on display during the event provided by the Chattanooga Modular Modelers club and the Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club. The Middle Georgia Railroad Club will also present an HO scale model train. The

Georgia Tinplate Trackers will show an interactive O scale layout. The North Georgia Lego Train Club will set up a brand new play and build area for children alongside of their layout- which has a model of both the General and Texas locomotives built completely out of Legos!

As part of this year’s expanded hands-on activities, kids of all ages will be able to take part in a new and enjoyable take-home craft. In addition, railroad artifacts from the Museum’s extensive archive collection will be on display for visitors to hold, touch and discover how they were used on the railroad.

Museum admission is $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, $5.50 for children ages 4-12 and free for children three and under as well as Museum members; coupons and discounts will not be accepted on the day of the event. The Museum is located at 2829 Cherokee Street in downtown Kennesaw (exit 273 on Interstate 75). For more information, call (770) 427-2117 ext. 3058, visit southernmuseum.org
