Some years ago, I was asked by my corporate job to do a speech at one of our award ceremonies. At the time I was working on a research project about one of the most significant and celebrated athletes, and public figures of the 20th century, Muhammad Ali. In my opinion, Muhammad Ali was what I like to refer to as a “Master Marketer”, a “Marketing Genius” who successfully built a brand and that brand was Muhammad Ali. People knew who he was and what he stood for, and whether you agreed with his views or not, you clearly understood his mission. He told the media, audiences and his fans throughout the world, “I am the greatest”.
You see Muhammad Ali was crystal clear about his marketing. He didn’t tell the media and his fans that he wanted to be the greatest, was planning on, would like to be or had hopes of being the greatest. His words were “I am the greatest.” I’ve spent a considerable amount of time studying his work, his brand, his execution, his style, his marketing strategies and formulas and I have to confess I inject all of them into my own marketing and branding work. Inspired by the boxing legend, I started my speech by saying “I am a Mover & Shaker.” I provided a short personal story to explain why and also talked about Muhammad Ali. I also told them that I am a Mover & Shaker because God has blessed me with the opportunity to be in full alignment with other Movers & Shakers.
I’ve been so fortunate throughout my entire professional career to work with successful men and women who challenge the status quo, pursue and achieve their goals relentlessly, who use their power and influence to make a difference in the lives of others. These are the movers and shakers who have opened doors for me, mentored me, challenged me and allowed me to stand on their shoulders. It’s been 2 years since we relocated to Georgia and since we’ve been here we’ve met some incredible leaders, entrepreneurs, activists and politicians doing extraordinary work in their industries and communities.
Today Chapter Avenue Productions is proud to announce the launch of our new online talk show Movers & Shakers hosted by yours truly. This show will provide a platform to showcase successful men and women doing extraordinary work in business, entrepreneurship, activism, politics, arts and entertainment and much more. I am so excited about our new show because you will get a chance to hear some incredible stories, learn from other entrepreneurs and leaders, and become inspired by the mission, vision and goals of others in your community. Our first Movers & Shakers episode goes live the second week in February so stay tuned for more information.
