Pigs and Peaches Opens this Weekend

Kennesaw’s Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival

Festival fans and music lovers will converge in Kennesaw for two days of barbeque bliss at the City of Kennesaw’s Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival on Friday, August 23, 6 – 10 pm and Saturday, August 24, 10 am – 10 pm at Adams Park. The event will be held rain or shine. Admission is free.

From its humble beginnings, Pigs & Peaches has grown into one of the region’s most beloved festivals attracting an estimated 65,000 attendees annually. Now in its 19th year, the festival features two days of non-stop music, good eats, cold beer and interactive family-fun. Attendees will find over 200 vendors, exhibitor and contestant booths, a Kid Zone full of inflatable jumpers, amusements and attractions, tons of tasty treats to satisfy every whim, and an incredible lineup of live entertainment and street performers.

At the heart of the festival is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition, which is also recognized as official Georgia BBQ Championship event. Additional cooking events include a Backyard contest for amateurs, Anything Butt and Peach Dessert contests. Over $16,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to contest winners.

Music headliners on the Main Stage include the sound of Ragtime combined with 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz from Blair Crimmins and the Hookers take the stage on Friday at 8:30 pm.  Blair Crimmins is from Marietta and if you light Dixieland you will love this concert.   Enjoy the best Aerosmith tribute band in the land, Pandora’s Box on Saturday at 8 pm.

Supporting acts include Daniel Lieving, Dawson Edwards, the School of Rock East Cobb House Band, Rusted Soul, and Daniel Lee.Musicians on the Locally Brewed Stage include The Paul Hand Band, Samuel Holladay, Carrie Bowen, Lindsay Beth Harper, Control Burn, Wesley Cook, and Blue Mischief.

PIGS AND PEACHES COURTESY SHUTTLES

COURTESY SHUTTLES will provide FREE round-trip service to the festival from the following convenient locations, including:
North Kennesaw Area:
•Swift-Cantrell Park, 3140 Old 41 Hwy. – Shuttle picks up & drops off near the main plaza (by the roundabout). This shuttle has a lift to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
•Kennesaw Elementary School, 3155 Jiles Rd. Shuttle picks up & drops off near the main portico.
Downtown Kennesaw Area:
•Tunnel Plaza (across the street from Revival on Main), 2840 South Main St. -Shuttle picks up & drops off at the sidewalk at the Tunnel Plaza.
•Kennesaw First Baptist Church, 2958 North Main St. -Shuttle picks up & drops off at the front church parking lot.
Shuttle service will be available on Friday, August 23 from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, and on Saturday, August 24 from 9:30am to 10:30pm. Shuttles will depart from each location approximately every 20-25 minutes.

WED AUG 21 ACTIVE ADULT LUNCHEON – Join us on the third Wednesday, August 21, for the City of Acworth Parks and Recreation Department’s Active Adult Luncheon. Come join us for lunch, bingo, and other special activities. The luncheon is held at the Tanyard Creek Overlook at the Acworth Community Center. Lunch is served at noon. After lunch we will have several rounds of bingo with prizes. This program is free to all Active Adults!!!

WED AUG 21, ASK THE EXPERTS. The public is invited to a A  FREE SENIOR CARE FORUM FOR THE COMMUNITY “ASK THE EXPERTS” is a forum style gathering for YOU to learn how to plan, prepare, or even take immediate action for your family’s changing needs. This event will be held on  Wednesday, August 21, 2019, 4:30PM at Acworth United Methodist Church 4340 Collins Cir. Acworth, GA 30101

FRI AUG 23 GLOVER PARK CONCERT SERIES featuring Mo’Soul Band playing R&B and Motown. Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up in the park. Personal tables and plastic ground coverings are not permitted in the park, however they may be set up on the street after 5:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner (beer & wine is permitted) or dine in one of the many fine restaurants located on the square. All concerts begin at 8:00 (rain or shine) and are held in Glover Park on the Historic Marietta Square
