My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy

Hilarious One-Man Comedy Stars Playwright and Marietta-Resident Steve Solomon AT THE STRAND

stevesolomonThe international hit comedy My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy! starring Steve Solomon is at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta, GA for a three week engagement and will end the weekend of October 18th. From what we hear, it is a must see.  Performances are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Described as “One part lasagna, one part kreplach, and two parts Prozac,” Solomon uses dialects, accents, and sound effects to bring to life dozens of wild characters through his style of comedy. Audiences follow along on this wonderfully funny journey of growing up, mixed marriages, ex-wives, dogs, cats, dieting, and dozens of other side-splitting situations we can all relate to.

Priced at $35 and $45 (plus applicable fees), tickets are on sale now to the general public and are available online at www.EarlSmithStrand.org, by phone at (770)-293-0080, or by visiting the Strand Theatre Ticket Office.

Written and performed by the playwright and star of the original New York production, award-winning actor and writer Steve Solomon, the hilarious one-man comedy is based on the author’s life growing up in a wacky family noted for its bi-ethnic diversity and aptitude for dysfunctional behavior, and all the people in his life whose sole purpose was to drive him into therapy! Solomon, whose mother is from Palermo and whose father is from Russia, grew up as one of two siblings in Brooklyn, NY.

The production was awarded “Favorite New Play” by Broadway.com and won the “Broadway Theater Fans Choice Award” on BroadwayWorld.com. The show was also nominated for awards by The Connecticut Critics Circle and the San Francisco Drama Desk.

This self-professed “class clown” grew up to become a physics teacher and an assistant superintendent of schools. Steve used humor, dialects, and sound effects to inspire his students and tick off his fellow administrators.  Eventually, however, Solomon felt the irresistible urge to follow his heart and write comedy.

He returned to his roots to write the autobiographical one-man show: My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy! The show played for two sold-out years in New York City and has toured internationally in more than 100 cities. The show has spun off three sequels, Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m STILL in Therapy! and My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m Home for the Holidays.
