Shelley Elder has a strong commitment to our community. Elder gives of her time, talents and resources to ensure that she makes a positive impact on her community. As a result she was named both the Cobb Chamber Kennesaw Citizen of the Year and the Kennesaw Business Association Business of the Year in 2018.

Elder is a board member of the Senior Resource Foundation, the Kennesaw Teen Center, the Kennesaw Business Association and the Kennesaw Public Safety Foundation, which she co-founded. She is also charitably involved with programs and organizations assisting seniors, children and impoverished groups, such as the Special Olympics of Georgia, Power of Peace Program, 10 Women of Hope, Through Our Hearts and the Kennesaw Life Church with ForeverFed, among others. Elder certainly has a passion for impacting her community and those around her positively.

Shelley is an amazing individual. She is passionate about her community and gives of her time, talents and resources to ensure that she makes a positive impact on the lives she touches. I cannot think of any individual more deserving of this award than Shelley Elder. The impact that she has made on the lives of the elderly, those in need and on children and teenagers cannot be measured by simple numbers or statistics. Her legacy will be one of generational change brought on by her commitment to the most vulnerable citizens of our community.
Shelley community involvement is widely varied. Shelley is a Board member of Senior Resource Foundation 2017- present, a 10 Women of Hope supporter – female homelessness 2016 – present.

Shelley serves on the Kennesaw Teen center – Board of Directors 2017-present, is a Children’s Miracle Network supporter – childhood cancers 2016 – present is a CCYA (Council on Children and Young Adults) Guardian Angel and active volunteer for difficult to place, homeless or battered children volunteer; fundraising committee 2017 – present. Is a Special Olympics of Georgia supporter – developmentally disabled individuals 2016 – 2018
