FREE THANKSGIVING DINNER Sardis Missionary Baptist Church provides for families in need throughout the year however especially during the Holiday Season the same need is even greater. This year the church has a goal of providing all the main ingredients for twenty-five FREE Thanksgiving dinners. SAT NOV 9 MARIETTA TREE KEEPERS Give back to your community and get some good exercise by coming out and joining us for our Japanese Maple Jamboree Tree Planting around Marietta.  We will be planting trees around Marietta and will meet at City of Marietta Maintenance Building (near Lewis Park) in Marietta. MON NOV 11 MARIETTA’S VETERANS PARADE 10:45 Please join the City of Marietta and the Kiwanis Club of Marietta in honoring all veterans on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the 15th Annual Veterans Day Parade on the Marietta Square.
We hope to have a large turnout to honor all veterans and commemorate those who have paid the ultimate price in serving our great nation on Monday, November 11th at 11am on the Marietta Square. The parade will begin at the Roswell Street Baptist Church at 10:45am and march up Roswell Street towards the Marietta Square and back down Lawrence Street with the intention of being on the Square by 11:11am. The Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Noon at the Marietta Square with Grand Marshal Captain Charles E. Polk III as keynote speaker.

MON NOV 11 KENNESAW’S VETERANS LUNCHEON NOON-12 The City of Kennesaw will honor the service of military members past and present with a complimentary lunch on Monday, November 11 from noon – 2 pm at the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive. All veterans and active duty military are invited to attend. No identification will be required. The Ron Asby North Cobb American Legion Post 304 is partnering with Kennesaw city officials and Parks and Recreation staff to host the lunch. The City of Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department presents this annual Thanksgiving tradition to benefit the Tackle Hunger Program! FRI DEC 6 SANTA’S ARRIVAL IN ACWORTH – Festivities start at 5:30 and Santa comes down the chimney at 6:30. I think you were with me last year. The City of Acworth, along with their partner NorthStar Church is excited to host this year’s Santa’s Arrival! Santa arrives in Historic Downtown Acworth on Senator Russell Avenue on Friday, December 6. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. Last year, Santa arrived by sliding down the chimney (see picture above), much to the surprise of two Acworth staff. Another surprise was the live nativity scene that walked it’s way through the crowd. Bring the entire family to hear Mayor Tommy Allegood read The Night Before Christmas and watch the lighting of the tree on the Plaza behind Henry’s. Enjoy pictures with Mr. Claus, eating candy canes with all his elves, and filling the streets with the holiday spirit. Pictures with Santa are free each year and begin at 6:45 p.m. There will not be a photographer onsite, so please plan on bringing your camera to capture the special moment.

SAT DEC. 7 CHRISTMAS BAZAAR 8-4. Acworth Presbyterian Church will hold a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the fellowship hall from 8am to 4pm. There will be gifts, handmade items, ornaments, Christmas Decor and for $5 you can have lunch with us.  A bowl of homemade soup, corn bread, drink and a Christmas cookie. The funds raised will go to new front doors as the old ones are beyond repair.

SAT DEC 7 KENNESAW’S DAY WITH SANTA 2:00=6:00 pm. Day with Santa – parade starts at 2:00, goes till 6 with tree lighting at 6. Kennesaw’s Parks and Recreation will help the City of Kennesaw usher in the holiday season on Saturday, December 7, with a Main Street parade featuring marching bands, decorated floats, vintage cars, colorfully costumed characters and Santa Claus himself. The parade begins at 2:00 pm near the intersection of Watts Drive and Main Street, proceeding up Main Street to end at Adams Park. The celebration continues on Main Street until 6 pm with A Day with Santa presented by WellStar Health Systems. Activities include a snow playground, inflatables and amusements, kid’s crafts, visits with Santa, stage entertainment, and a holiday market full of gift ideas and unique merchandise. Food vendors will be onsite. Parade awards will be presented at 5:30 pm.

SAT DEC 7 KENNESAW’S CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING 6:00 pm Join Mayor Easterling and other city officials at Depot Park in downtown Kennesaw on Saturday, December 7 at 6:00 pm, for the time-honored tradition of “flipping the switch” to illuminate the official Christmas tree.

Join us for Breakfast with the Grinch on Saturday, December 14 starting at 9:00am at the Acworth Community Center! Enjoy breakfast while the Grinch visits with each table for photo opportunities and to share Christmas wishes. SAT DEC 14 SOUTHERN MUSEUM HOLIDAY FUN On Saturday, December 14, the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History is hosting a holiday event featuring activities for kids young and old, all of which are free with regular Museum admission. The highlight of the event will be a screening of the Christmas classic The Polar Express (2004). The film will be shown twice throughout the day, once at 10:30am and again at 2:30pm. Prior to each screening, at 10am and 2pm respectively, the popular children’s book upon which the movie is based will be read aloud. Kids are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas or winter clothing. Museum regular admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (ages 65+), and $5 for child/youth (ages 3-17), active military (with ID), and university students (with ID). FRI & SAT. DEC 13 & 14 PIEDMONT CHRISTMAS Christmas at Piedmont Church Arts & Crafts Show will take place on Friday December 13th from 5pm to 9pm and on Saturday December 14th from 10am to 5pm. The show will feature over 40 unique handmade arts & crafts booths. There will be a huge children’s play area and interactive crafts for the kids, all types of food, entertainment provided by local school choruses and dance groups, a live nativity, and FREE photos with Santa. SAT DEC 14 HOYA MERRY MARKET 9-3 Harrison High School will hold the Hoya Merry Market at Harrision High School ADMISSION is FREE. Shop over 75 crafters. selling everything from handmade jewelry, bath products, wooden art, embroidered and crocheted items, to bird houses, tumblers, metal art, Christmas ornaments and décor. Santa will be visiting and you are welcome to take your own pictures with him. No need to go to the mall and stand in line. Music will be provided throughout the day by members of Harrison’s chorus, band and orchestra.

FRIDAY/SATURDAYS Lumiere Lounge (6-10pm) on the second floor at the Strand Theatre Come to the Strand and pay homage to the days of old with a silent film inspired piano bar and lounge! As you sink into a plush couch or join a friend at a cafe table, the modern world seems to drift away as classic silent films quietly flicker in the background while a live pianist plays. The Lumière Lounge will feature specialty cocktails made with local ‘Hometown Honey’ in addition to a full bar. Lumière is held on the second floor lounge on select Friday and Saturday nights from 6-10pm.
