NOW-SEPT 21 LOGAN FARM PUMPKIN PATCH- Help Acworth celebrate the fall season by decorating your very own wooden pumpkin to be displayed at Logan Farm Park! We supply the pumpkin; you supply the creativity! Use paint, collage, mosaic, or more to create a unique masterpiece to participate in this fall art contest. Pumpkins will be on display October 6 – November 1. Once all eligible pumpkins are on display, a team of judges will review all entries to award prizes in the following categories: Best Overall; Most Creative; Spookiest; Silliest; Mayor’s Choice. It’s only $10 to participate! Due to limited availability, please limit pumpkins to one per household/business. To reserve your pumpkin, please contact Jessy Patterson at  jpatterson@acworth.org. Applications are due by September 21.

NOW-SEPT 21 APPLICATIONS FOR ACWORTH’S SCARECROW PARADE All classes pre-school through 12th grade, businesses, non-profits, and Acworth residents are invited to participate in the 10th annual Scarecrow Parade. This fall tradition is the perfect way for schools, businesses, and other organizations to promote their business, celebrate their school spirit, or just show off their creativity. Scarecrows will begin parading throughout historic downtown Acworth on Monday, October 5and continue to be on display until Friday, November 6. The fee to participate for Acworth businesses, organizations, residents, and all non-profits is $10. The fee for entries outside of Acworth is $20. The theme for this year’s Scarecrow Parade is TOTALLY 80S! Applications must be submitted by Monday, September 21. Contact Jessy Patterson at  jpatterson@acworth.org for more information.

NOW-SEPT 21 SCARECROWS ON MAIN. How fun. The City of Kennesaw invites area residents, families, neighborhoods, non-profit, civic and faith-based organizations, local businesses, schools, local sports teams, athletic clubs, etc. to design and create a scarecrow to display on Main Street for the inaugural “Scarecrows on Main” event. Participation in this event is free! The application & information packets can be found on the City’s website at https://www.kennesaw-ga.gov/download/scarecrows-on-main-2020/. NOW- OCT 2 – REGISTER FOR KENNESAW’S TAKE AND PAINT PUMPKINS. Show us your artistic creativity and your love for Halloween with our Take and Paint Pumpkins! We’ll provide the supplies, and you pick them up and paint at home. Supplies will include one small pumpkin, paint brushes, and five paint colors, including a glow in the dark paint! Please register by October 2 to reserve your pumpkin. We will have curbside pickups of pumpkins and paint October 5-7. If you would like to participate in the painted pumpkin contest, please email pictures by October 11. There will be prizes! The winners will be announced October 16. NOW-OCT 15. CALL FOR ARTISTS. The Art House is hosting their Small Works Exhibit in November and December. Submission deadline is Thursday, Oct 15 at midnight. FRI,SAT,SUN SEPT 25-27 and OCT 2-4 SUPERIOR PLUMBING PRESENTS NORTH GEORGIA STATE FAIR TASTE OF THE FAIR THE Taste of the Fair, is a drive through fair food event to benefit MUST Ministries. This drive through event will feature all of your favorite fair foods, including corn dogs, caramel apples, pizza, cotton candy, Polish sausage, funnel cakes, turkey legs, deep fried Oreos, and MORE. Load your car with your family, friends, neighbors and other fair loving folks and drive to the main parking lot of Jim R. Miller Park (North Georgia State Fair). 2245 Callaway Rd., Marietta, Ga. 30080 (Enter Gate #3 on Al Bishop Dr.) Both Admission and parking are FREE. We do ask you to donate 7 non-perishable canned goods to help MUST Ministries fill their food pantries. FRI SEPT 25 ACWORTH’S BACK TO THE FUTURE MOVIE – Where we’re going, we don’t need roads! Join us for a free outdoor screening of Back to the Future on Friday, September 25! Presented by Lake City & Acworth Animal Hospital, this movie event will take place at the Acworth Sports Complex on the football field (3883 Old McEver Road). Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. The movie will begin at sundown. This is a free event. However, due to limited capacity, pre-registration is required. SAT SEPT 26 OUTDOOR MOVIE SERIES Kennesaw Parks and Rec presents their final installment of the Outdoor Movie Serie on Saturday, September 26th at Swift-Cantrell Park (3140 Old 41 Hwy NW). Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog (rated PG) will be projected onto a giant inflatable screen after sundown. The field will be marked with family squares to ensure social distancing. Masks are encouraged while on site and movie attendees should monitor their own symptoms and should stay home if they are not feeling well. For your comfort, bring a blanket or low-back chairs. SUN OCT 4 – UNICORN SUNDAY OAK Sanctuary’s upcoming event, Unicorn Sunday will be held Sunday, October 4. The allure and magic of the mystical unicorn is not just for kids. These amazing creatures are for adults too! Unlock your inner magic and join us for the history, legend, and mythology behind unicorns. Learn how unicorns play a role in spirituality. MON OCT 5 – COBB STUDENTS START TO RETURN TO SCHOOL. Phase One: Will see all pre-k through fifth-grade students AND pre-k through 12th-grade special education low incidence students having the option to return for full-day instruction. ASP will also resume for students in face-to-face classrooms on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Phase Two: Will see all sixth through eighth-grade students having the option to return for full-day instruction. Phase two is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 19, 2020.  Phase Three: Will see all ninth through twelfth-grade students having the option to return for full-day instruction. FRI OCT 9 MAYOR’S GOLF TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE
The Kennesaw / Acworth Optimist Club is excited to announce that the Second Annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament Challenge has been rescheduled for Friday October 9,2020. Registration starts at 11:00 am and tee off at 1:00 pm. MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW. We would like invite you to play golf (individually or as a foursome) or sponsor a hole to advertise your business. This Friday afternoon golf tournament will be an enjoyable end to a busy week on the beautiful greens of The Cobblestone Golf Course. Lunch will be served and prizes will be awarded. Cost is $80 a person, or $320 for a team of four. This tournament will feature a competition between Acworth and Kennesaw for the Mayor’s Tournament Trophy to be traveling each year to the winning City. SAT OCT 31 GRAND PRIX 5K RACE (CHANGED till SAT OCTOBER 31) Due to City Event Cancellations and logistical concerns, the Race Committee has opted to postpone the 2020 Kennesaw Grand Prix Race until Saturday, October 31, 2020. FRI ACWORTH FARMER’S MARKET – Acworth Farmers Market – Shop for local at the Acworth Farmers Market every Friday morning from June 5-October 30 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The market takes place at Logan Farm Park (4405 Cherokee Street). Market customers will have a wide variety of garden ripe Georgia grown vegetables, eggs, cheese, bedding plants, fresh baked bread, pies, cakes, honey and jams to choose from each week.
The following guidelines will be followed: Volunteers from the city will be on hand to help. Vendors will wear masks and masks are also suggested for our customers. We request one shopper per family, no pets or small children recommended. Please practice social distancing. There will be no hand to hand contact. Tables will be two deep at each vendor booth. Credit cards preferred or bring lots of small bills to give vendors exact change. If you are an interested vendor please email Jeff Chase at jchase@acworth.org.

SAT MARIETTA FARMER’S MARKET. Year round on Saturdays from 9am-12pm.  Takes up residence on 41 MILL STREET between Powder Springs and the Square..  Market customers have a variety of produce to choose from including heirloom tomatoes, fruits and vegetables that are rarely, available from the grocery store. Plus staples such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, beans, amazing cut flower arrangements, local honey, herbal soaps, whole grain breads, fudge pies, jelly, jam and preserves.
