SAT AUG 11 MILES4MEIER 5K is a 5K race being held on Saturday, August 11 at 9 am at Kennesaw Mountain High School, in memory of Blake Meier. The purpose of this race is to bring awareness to our community about the Opioid epidemic. Proceeds from this race will go to local organizations helping those affected by this disease.  Register online at or at 8:30 am the day of the race.

SAT AUG 11 PROGRAM PALOOZA Area residents are invited to attend Kennesaw Parks & Recreation’s ‘Program Palooza’ at the Ben Robertson Community Center on Saturday, August 11, 10 am – 1 pm. All ages are welcome. Admission is free. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet program instructors, observe and participate in a variety of demonstrations, and learn all about dozens of new and exciting recreation activities that will be offered this fall — from sports, dance and fitness programs to arts & crafts and adult enrichment classes. Dust off your bell-bottoms, start up your VolksWagon and come ready to party as 60’s attire is encouraged. A discount will be offered for registration accepted on-site during the event. FRI/SAT/SUN AUG 10, 11, 12 & AUG 17, 18, 19 Jukebox Giants: Motown & More!The 90-minute high energy song and dance revue is based around the classic songs of the 1960’s. Performances of Jukebox Giants: Motown & More are open to the public at The Strand on Friday August 10 at 8:00pm, Saturday August 11 at 8:00pm, Sunday August 12 at 3:00pm, Friday August 17 at 8:00pm, Saturday August 18 at 3:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sunday August 19 at 3:00pm. SAT AUG 11 KENNESAW HISTORICAL SOCIETY 2:00 pm August’s speaker is Dustin Klein, archivist at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. Klein will present “Cotton States & International Exposition” and will tell stories about this 1895 event that attracted nearly 800,000 to Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. The event is at the Southern Museum and open to the public and is free.

SUN AUG 12 DAVIS DIRECTION FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER 6:00 PM at the Marietta Performing Arts Center. This award winning musical revue and silent auction assists The Davis Direction Foundation to reach their goals to fight addiction and fuel recovery while serving as a national model for “Building Communities of Recovery” in the midst of a National Opioid/Heroin Epidemic. MON AUG 13 SUPERIOR PLUMBING CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC to benefit Children’s Health Care of Atlanta. The Tournament will be held at Marietta Country Club and begins at 8:30 am with lunch and awards following at 1:30 pm. FRI/SAT AUG 24, 25 PIGS N PEACHES – ADAMS PARK, KENNESAW. Festival fans and music lovers will converge in Kennesaw for two days of barbeque bliss at the City of Kennesaw’s Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival on Friday, August 24, 6 – 10 pm and Saturday, August 25, 10 am – 10 pm at Adams Park. The event will be held rain or shine. Admission is free. While public tasting is not offered as part of the BBQ competition, there will be dozens of vendors (including several cook teams) who will be selling barbeque and other food and beverages, including beer. SAT/SUN/MON SEP 1-3 ART IN THE PARK Art in the Park has been a part of the Marietta Square’s history since 1986 and takes place in and around the Historic Marietta Square and Glover Park on Labor Day weekend. This fine art extravaganza features an artist market, children’s art alley, and the famous Painted Pots. Art displayed will include paintings, photography, pottery, graphic arts, sculptures, jewelry, and woodworking from 175 of the country’s finest artists. The festival is free with plenty of free parking on the street and in the Cobb County Park Decks located on Waddell St. at Lawrence St.

SUN/MON SEPT 2 & 3 NOSFEST .. A celebration of Jewish Food and culture. NOSHFEST is a wonderful experience for the whole family!  NOSHFEST is a “taste” event with samples sold from $1 to $5 of delicious food including bagels, kugel, brisket, latkes, potato knish, fried green tomatoes, ice cream, pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, hamantaschen cookies and much more. Plus hand-made crafts and entertainment. And a Kids Zone for the kids. SAT SEPT 8 – COLOR ME FREE 5K, GEORGIA CARES – The Color Me Free 5K Color Run is Saturday, September 8th at Due West United Methodist Church, 3956 Due West Road, Marietta, GA 30064. The race will begin the at 8:00am and top male and female runners will be awarded following the race. The goal for this race is to raise money for victim services and raise awareness of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking, happening right here in our Georgia communities. SAT/SUN SEPT 15 & 16 MARIETTA STREETFEST – The 27th annual Marietta StreetFest focuses on the family with many free activities including more than 75 arts & crafts booths, the Hubcaps and History Classic Car Show, a kid-friendly activity zone and Tiny Tot Town, the Toy Box Trot fun run and the Marietta Grassroots Music Festival. Marietta StreetFest takes place Saturday, Sept. 15 – Sunday, Sept. 16 on the Square in Marietta.Attendance at the Marietta StreetFest is free and admission to to the Marietta Museum of History is free during the festival weekend.

SAT SEPT 15 MOTHER SON CAMP OUT- The Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department is excited to host our annual Mother-Son Camp Out at Proctor Landing Park on Saturday, September 15 beginning at 1:00 p.m. This event is open to mothers and their sons, 13 and under. Participants will camp alongside the beautiful Lake Allatoona while learning about nature and participating in a variety of outdoor activities! WED SEPT 19 ACTIVE ADULT DAY TRIP- Acworth Parks and Rec will be taking a group of seniors to visit the Imaginary Worlds at Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We will depart from Logan Farm Park at 8:00 a.m. The cost for a City resident is $35 and the cost for a non-City resident is $40. Registration is open for residents and opens Wednesday, August 8 for non-residents.

SAT SEPT 22 – ACWOOF’S & WAVES The Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department is excited to host our first ever doggie beach day at Dallas Landing Park on Saturday, September 22!  The event will consist of two time slots for dogs of all sizes.  Small/Medium breeds will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and Medium/Large breeds will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m.  This event is open to all non-aggressive dogs who are spayed/neutered and current on their shots.  Veterinary records will be required. MONDAYS KENNESAW FARMER’S MARKET 3:30-7:30 PM. The Farmer’s market will offer a variety of fresh vegetables & fruits, baked goods, prepared goods, jams & jellies, locally produced honey and more! The market will be in the circle this season with the food trucks. Some vendors require cash but many take debit/credit cards. Hours for FM are 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. At the depot in downtown Kennesaw.

MONDAYS DINNER AT THE DEPOT 5:30-8:30 A variety of food trucks will rotate throughout the season. Food trucks take cash, credit and debit cards.There will be live music each week and different types of entertainment throughout the season. TUESDAYS COBB COUNTY FARM BUREAU FARMERS MARKET Lost Mountain Park. We’ll be there every Tuesday from now thru September from 3 – 7 PM. The goal for Cobb County Farm Bureau Farmers Market is to promote agriculture and give consumers an opportunity to connect with local farmers and businesses. FRIDAYS ACWORTH FARMER’S MARKET The Historic Downtown Acworth Farmer’s Market is open for this season  and will continue each Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until noon through Friday, October 26. The market is located in Historic Downtown Acworth in the Acworth First Baptist Church Parking Lot on the north end of Main Street. “Lumiere Lounge” (6-10pm) on the second floor at the Strand Theatre Come to the Strand and pay homage to the days of old with a silent film inspired piano bar and lounge! GHOSTS OF MARIETTA WALKING TOUR (7:30pm) Walk the streets of our haunted city by lantern light, guided by one of our talented storytellers. SATURDAYS  MARIETTA SQUARE ARTISAN MARKET is on Second and Fourth Saturdays.  April through November.
