Join Acworth Business Association on Thursday, February 2, at 11:30 a.m., at NorthStar Church to hear the Acworth Mayor, Tommy Allegood, give the annual State of the City Address. The sponsor of the month is North Cobb Christian School and the lunch caterer is Adriane’s Delectables. Based on past presentations by Mayor Allegood, this Thursday’s State of the City will be full of excellent information on the plans for the City in the coming year.
TOMMY ALLEGOOD was raised in Atlanta, GA. He is a 1970 graduate of Gordon Military College and a cadet in the ROTC program. He is a 1972 graduate of the University of Georgia. When he graduated he began a management career with Lowe’s Companies which has always kept him in the building and development field. His leadership skills have enabled him to bring people together to accomplish goals and objectives as a team.
He currently serves as the Executive Director for the Cobb Community Foundation and he is currently working to develop and build the Foundation to become the #1 charitable giving resource for Cobb County.
He was elected to the city council in 2000 and then elected as mayor in 2002. He is serving in his third unopposed term as mayor and the city has doubled in population to 24,000 residents. During his first days as mayor he developed a “Quality of Life” campaign that has made his city the fastest growing city residentially and commercially in Cobb County.
Tommy is a member of North Star Church, Acworth Business Association, Cobb County Chamber of Commerce Northwest, PTA Partner at McCall Primary and Acworth Elementary, Partner in Education at Barber Middle School and North Cobb High School, and serves on President Dan Papp’s Advisory Board at Kennesaw State University.
With personal expertise in team building, developing leadership, building and project development … Tommy is very active in the local community. He and wife Carol, a local artist and Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, have restored and live in a 100+ year old home in Acworth. Together they have four children and seven grandchildren.
