Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
In January, Acworth will be turning a day off into a day on! Join the community as we celebrate a day of service in memory of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The City of Acworth invites you and your family to join us for a light welcome breakfast at the Roberts School Community and Education Center at 8:30 a.m. Following the welcome breakfast, the Unity Walk will begin at 9:15 a.m. and leave from the Roberts School and finish at the Acworth Community Center. Our program honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Tanyard Creek Overlook at the Acworth Community Center. After the program concludes, we will begin our service project helping an organization in our community. MLK Day of Service shirts will be for sale at the Acworth Community Center leading up to and on the day of the event. All proceeds will go towards the Acworth Expanding Horizons and Acworth Achievers programs. This program will be designed to help businesses understand resources available to them including grant funding opportunities and how to market their business. Special Olympics Georgia Polar Plunge
Special Olympics Georgia is proud to present the 13th Annual Polar Plunge which will be held on Saturday, February 19th at Cauble Park in Acworth, Georgia, and the plunging will occur between 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The Polar Plunge is one of Special Olympics Georgia “coolest” and largest fundraising events through the efforts of the Law Enforcement Torch Run Program (LETR). Senior Warriors is designed for Acworth’s amazing Active Adult (55+) population. Join our instructor, Omar Welch, as we use traditional Korean movements to increase balance, mental focus, and movement. Join us every third Wednesday of the month for the City of Acworth’s Senior Luncheon. Come join us for lunch at noon and Bingo after with prizes..
