2022 PIGS AND PEACHES BBQ FESTIVAL – AUG 19 AND 20

Festival fans and music lovers are invited to join the City of Kennesaw for two days of barbeque bliss at the Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival, presented by Williams Elleby Law Firm, on Friday, August 19 from 6 – 10 p.m. and Saturday, August 20, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. at Adams Park.

From its humble beginnings, Pigs & Peaches has grown into one of the region’s most beloved festivals attracting an estimated 65,000 attendees annually. Now in its 21st year, the festival features two days of non-stop music, good eats, cold beer and interactive family fun. Attendees will find over 100 vendors, exhibitor and contestant booths, a Kid Zone full of inflatables, amusements and attractions, tons of tasty treats to satisfy every whim, and an incredible lineup of live entertainment and street performers.

At the heart of the festival is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition, which is also recognized as an official Georgia BBQ Championship event. Additional cooking events include a Backyard contest for amateurs, Anything Butt and Peach Dessert contests. Over $16,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to contest winners.

CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT

Kennesaw Parks & Recreation is also excited to announce the City’s first-ever Corn Hole tournament, presented by Williams Elleby Law Firm! The tournament will run in conjunction with the Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival with five divisions: Adult & Child (12 & under), Adult & Child (13-17), Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The tournament is round robin format and each team will play a minimum of five games. The tournament will follow standard ACL rules and elimination scoring.

The event will conclude on Saturday evening with a fireworks finale, beginning at 9:30 p.m. and will be held rain or shine. Admission is free.

New this year: Gold Sponsor, Georgia Grown, will feature the Georgia Grown Market in front of the Local Stage with 20 specialty Georgia Grown vendors.

MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT

Music and entertainment will ring throughout the festival – below are the two headliners for the weekend. Check out www.pigsandpeaches.com for a list and review of all of the music.  And dont miss our local entertainment: On Friday and Saturday, 20 unique dance and performance groups will entertain festival goers on the Family Stage, which will be located inside the Kid Zone.

FRIDAY EVENING: 8:00 – 10:00 PM: Paul Hand Band The Paul Hand Band is a live rock & pop group. Their music consists of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s cover songs, something for everyone. Paul Hand is the leader and originator of the band and has been performing in the metro Atlanta area for over 20 years. Paul entertains with his rockin, vocals, guitar and piano. Backing Paul up is, Nick Atenhan on lead and rhythm guitar, Blake Atenhan on drums and Miles Russell on bass. You will also find Ashely Henderson’s vocal contribution from time to time allowing the band to cover just about anything, making The Paul Hand Band a must see.

SATURDAY EVENING 8:00 – 9:30 PM: The Georgia Thunderbolts Whether it be on the banks of the Mississippi River or deep in the heart of the English countryside, rock ‘n’ roll lives, breathes, and burns on the outskirts. Hailing from Rome, GA at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, The Georgia Thunderbolts rise up with a scorching signature style steeped in soulful southern swagger, blistering blues, and raw rock. Released October of 2021, the quintets full-length debut for Mascot Records ‘Can We Get A Witness’ conjures a tried-and-true spirit through a fresh fire.

COURTESY SHUTTLES will provide FREE round-trip service to the festival from the following locations:

North Kennesaw Area:
• Swift-Cantrell Park, 3140 Old 41 Hwy. – Shuttle picks up & drops off near the main plaza (by the roundabout). One shuttle on this route has a lift to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
• Kennesaw Elementary School, 3155 Jiles Rd. – Shuttle picks up & drops off near the main portico. One shuttle on this route has a lift to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

Downtown Kennesaw Area:
• Commemorative Park ( intersection of Main street and Cherokee Street) -Shuttle picks up & drops off at marked spaces by commemorative park with flags)
• Kennesaw First Baptist Church, 2958 North Main St. -Shuttle picks up & drops off at the front church parking lot.

Shuttle service will be available on Friday, August 19 from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and on Saturday, August 20 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM. Shuttles will depart from each location approximately every 20-25 minutes.
